I have an oak tree that's about 20-25' tall and 5" diameter. Would it be possible to successfully relocate it about 100' away? Anyone ever accomplish this?

I think they have trucks for such things. Doubt it would be worth it to rent one, but if you've got the want, should be doable.

Without a truck I'm gonna say no. A necessary rootball would weigh better than 2tons.

You will need pros with a spade. No way you are hand digging that size tree. Of you try please do a time lapse video.

I remember the full size oaks that the Beau Rivage transplanted. Brought them in on 53' flat beds.

Please go hire some mexicans and video it. I want to see their faces when you hand them shovels and point at the tree.

You'll need roughly 10" of root ball per inch of diameter. If memory serves correct, the root ball is going to weigh 80-100lbs per sq. ft.

You got to remember there is as much tree underground as above ground.

In short, no.

There is literally zero chance in hell that you can even dig that tree up with a shovel.

It can be done, but that tree/root ball will weigh around 15,000 pounds. The time to do it is now though.

Don't want to beat you down here but I would forewarn you that if you attempt to bring a friend in to assist you in committing suicide to your back he may bury you in the two foot hole yall dig around the base before quitting.
