Would you hire Dabo Swinney?

At a "blue blood" program that expects to compete for championships?

That is tough.
He has done well, but the pressure at Clemson does not equal to the pressure of place like Alabama... especially post-Saban. That is going to be a tough spot for anyone to fill.

so the resort is for the bamas of the world to never take a chance on guys who did well elsewhere?

Yes. He's definitely the CEO type that needs good coordinators, but a blue blood program will be able to afford those type of coordinators. He's shown the ability to put together a good staff and recruit well. His teams seem to play hard as well

He just took Clemson to the championship game so yea, dumbass.

I don't like his personality, but it's hard to argue with his results.

I wouldn't want him at LSU because he'd leave for Bama if the opportunity presented itself. But he's definitely a top 10 coach in CFB and I think he'll get a championship eventually.

I think his track record is undeniable and he's an obvious choice. There is criticism of Dabo for a program of bigger scrutiny because of his persona, and the fact that this year's team was centered around an all-time great qb and had other major flaws. I'm just trying to gauge an objective assessment outside the fanbase

I think he could do quite well, but you do have to think the pressure would be much higher. Also, it would really depend on the other candidates.

The pressure is definitely much higher. He's also the kind of guy who would pour every ounce of his heart and soul into the job.

Which isn't a bad thing. He's shown that he can hire the right guys and stay out of their way.

Hes a good a choice as any unless a saban like hire is available. I don't think he would be able to deliver the same, but he'd be a solid hire. He'd coach forever at a school with expectations like uga or auburn (assuming he didn't lose to his main rival 5y in a row without any titles to compensate like he did at Clemson; that would get you shitcanned at either school).
I don't know if he would still be the coach at a school like Alabama in 5 years but you could do a lot worse.

Definitely.
He recruits well and hires good coordinators. He's also proven that he can replace players and coaches and still continue having success.

I think this meme is as embedded in the LSU fan base as laissez le bon temp roule. Literally every single LSU coach for the last 30 years was going to leave for his old school, except Saban who was going to leave for the NFL and was the only 1 that did.

Yes, but I think he is perfect right where he is.
Posted on 1/15/16 at 1:39 pm to genro
Absolutely. Good coach, players love him, media loves him and he puts out good results.

Where do I apply?

Hell yes.
But I really don't think he will leave Clemson unless its to go to Alabama. And who knows, it may end up being a Miles situation -- when there's an opening at Alabama, he'll decide to stay at Clemson because it has become his home.
