Take the source with a grain of salt, but Sheridan tweeted that the Kings contacted the Pelicans and offered Gay for Ryno.

He says that the Pelicans have declined the proposal for now

He would be a decent fit. but I don't really want to take on Gay's contract in exchange for an expiring.

No to that contract. Unless they take Asik along with him

hmm...that wouldn't work. We would need a third team to take Asik or take Belinelli or something.

The move we make with Ryno is the ultimate "Compass" move for this team.

It will tell us exactly what direction we are headed.

A move for Gay would mean Dell is still trying to salvage things and keep on with his same strategy. A definite "Dell move".

A move for young players/picks signifies a new direction for the franchise.

I can't believe I am saying this, but Belli wouldn't necessarily be bad compensation

This is why I posted in another thread that this week will be exciting because we will get hints at the answer at least through rumors. The message board rumor last week ro so was that we approached the Kings. The first media rumor if true is better in that we were approached by the Kings with a short term thinking offer and we declined.

Hopefully management is ready to make moves and this report will help generate more interest.

I think I'd still rather Morrow, but if you're looking for a reasonably priced Gordon replacement, you can definitely do worse, especially with an escalated cap.

There sure does seem to be a lot of smoke between us and the Kings. I guess it kind of makes sense because neither team is happy with their talent mix yet aren't untalented.

Yep,

alot of Parallels between us and the Kings. I know Rondo is unpredictable but if they found a way to get him and Rudy gay for Anderson and anyone else not named Jrue or AD this roster looks a lot better.

And that's exactly what I am thinking. Belli can be a low end Gordon replacement. Morrow would seemingly solve our SF scoring issues but what about his defense?

Taking it a step further....Ryno fits really well with Boogie and Rondo. SAC doesn't have bird rights for Rondo and he will cost a good bit, so the rights for Ryno may be more important to them than others. They also havent made the playoffs in a decade and are only 2 games out.

That offer is gay, they can do better. If we have to get rid of ryno it better be worthwhile not some bs

This sounds more like a Pels leak than anything else.

Could mean they want young guys/picks and are ready to re-lay a foundation.

Could also mean they want vets, just not 10 year ones that have 2/$27 left and are aging out of SF into PF. I guess that is a win given where we are with Demps.

Someone start a fund on to buy a billboard on Poydras telling Demps to take the high road and build a foundation on his way out instead of brining in long shots and hope that it works.

Raise awareness of the issue, and whatnot.

not to mention that Ryno is a Northern California guy from Sac Town so he may be amenable to signing there long term.

Morrow is not a small forward. He absolutely cannot defend that position.

Yeah, Morrow would just be a Gordon replacement. He's not much of a defender either even if he is bigger.

He's taller, but lighter, and I'm really not sure his reach is any better.
