What i gathered from the Clemson Vs Gumps game

Bama struggled at containing Watson all night long, the gumps d-line is not invincible yet they still put pressure on some plays but Clemson did a jam up job of blocking for Watson and allowing him to either make plays with his feet or find an open receiver. Fournette is still better then Henry. And last but not least I think LSU brings home the W next year against the gumps.
I do think bama did pretty decent against the hurry up offense for the most part but Reinfroe was making plays and getting behind the DB's all night, Watson had a few wide open throws that he missed on blown coverages. Bama is good but there is no reason we should'nt be able to beat them if Clemson's o line and d played like that against them

Clemson showed how to beat the Bama defense
They just gave up too many big plays
I'd like to know how Clemson would have performed with their 2 best WRs not out of the game.

That is for sure, Dabo had a hell of a game plan!

Clemson did not sit there all day and try to run the ball in to the teeth of their defense. They attacked the edges and they did a much better job against the run than we even came close to. When you have a game plan like LSU that is so conceited to think that you are just going to line up and run right at their strength then your defense stays on the field the whole game because of 3 and outs the whole game and you get blown out. Watson is better than Harris and he makes plays when things break down and he is more accurate passing the ball by far. But they also did a lot better job of protecting him. If you compare Clemson's skilled players to LSU minus the QB position, LSU matches or really has more talent at the RB position, the WR position especially due to Clemson injuries and just as good at the TE position. And yet we were so much less productive against Bama because of game planning. Same as in the 21-0 debacle in New Orleans.

1. Having a QB that can actually play at a high level helps a lot.
2. Speeding up the game stresses the Alabama defense.
Don't look for either of these to change in the Fall.

Well no duh.... Watson is the best player in the country and without him that game wouldn't of even been close. Nobody has or did really ever contain him all season long.

Bama struggles on misdirection and mobile qb's. They all seek the ball and you have to get them guessing. CLM hasn't done that.

Our QB is supposed to be mobile, unfortunately he usually looks very tentative and runs/throws cautiously. He seems to have the physical tools, maybe he just doesn't process information very quickly.

I completely disagree with this.
Bama struggles when you attack the perimeter with effectiveness and they have to pull a guy out of the box. I didnt see any misdirection/counter plays really work against Bama all year.
The Clemson QB was able to sit in the pocket just long enough to entice the pocket to collapse and then worked some magic evading tackles and made something of it, usually with a good scramble dump off.
Non of the aforementioned is remotely close to what LSU does, and they have no clue how to practice it so it doesnt matter.

I'd expect #1 to change
#2 just isn't our style of football

Major Props to Clemson !!! Best game I have seen in a long time.

Clemson was in the game because of improvising from Watson, Harris is not as good as him scrambling.

Teams that have beaten and put up a good amount of points on Bama the past 4 seasons: Ole Miss, A&M, Oklahoma, Auburn and Ohio State. Do you see something about these offenses that is different than our philosophy?

But he'll have more weapons at his disposal than Watson had in this game
They were down 2 of their top WRs due to injury and suspension and still moved the ball

Excellent analysis .

It proved it's better to use a pass catching TE in various routes than a 300 lb TE who can block. Kiffin's game plan used effective passes to the TE just like he has in every big game.

My key observation is that Clemson can't cover a tight end, OJ Howard, to save their freaking lives. That dude had more busted coverages on him than anybody else.
Also DW is light years beyond what BH is and will probably in my personal opinion. I don't think BH will ever get his reads down as fast as DW was going last night.
