What are some good home security systems/companies? What features should I be looking for? What's a reasonable price per month?

Thanks in advance

Edit- already own 7 handguns

A loyal big dog, and a couple different handguns throughout the house.

30 years old, never had home alarm. My parents, aunts, uncles, cousin, never had one either.

A siren only warns you to get your gun. It's worthless without a gun.

Get a gun. Or a few. I'm serious.

My alarm woke the wife and I up at 2:17am one morning and I couldn't imagine not having a gun while searching the house.
Turned out some methhead white trash motherfricker broke into the shed, not the house so we were ok.

Don't let something happen and not have a gun to get to.

SimpliSafe - unless it is a very large home this works great. *NO CONTRACT* All the other companies I have found sign you to stupidly long contracts or have large cancellation fees.

We have ADT and haven't had any problems. Having the app is nice should you forget to arm the alarm after you leave or get in bed.

ETA I have a shotgun under my bed and a handgun on my nightstand as well.

I am learning to teach inner city youth by writing raps.

Let me write a wrap about home security and get back to you.

If the Simplisafe system was around before I had a hardwired system put in I would consider it.

The recurring costs are $15/month for monitoring and the cellular signal.

With a hardwire system you have to keep phone service or pay extra for cell service. My land line costs me $40/month and the monitoring is $66/quarter. If it weren't for the alarm we would have dropped the land line years ago.

Place a few of these around the outside of the house. Buy an ADT sign and you're done.

My BIL works for Acadiana security plus. They are a good company. Locally owned.

This: Majority of home security effectiveness is the yard sign. Crooks move on to next house without one

SimpliSafe doesn't have any cameras. I want to be able to see who I'm about to shoot in the face.

Frontpoint and Vivint are the 2 best
