Question: Do you think deer are suicidal? Seems pretty convienent that they keep hitting all these cars!

I think they're blind.

Slightly related note, does anyone remember the video game Crusin' USA on N64 and at arcades?

They would have deer on the side of road and would explode on impact if you hit them.

I had a Gemsbuck nearly come through my front windshield mid-day in Namibia. It reared up on it's back hooves. Only thing that prevented it. Those things have some massive horns.

ETA this is a Gemsbuck

ha! I was waiting for someone to suggest that. Husband and I drove to the scene (less than a mile) and POLICE arrived and they dragged the deer off the road...car was covered with deer hair, it was gross.

wow to the person who has hit 3! that's crazy!
They just don't look both ways before running across the road lol!

I have not personally hit one, but there are absolutely tons of them her in central Mississippi...we probably average one company vehicle hitting them per week...

MS delta. She went airborne and flipped end over end multiple times with arms and legs fully extended. Will never forget the sight. Weird. No meat recovery possible

Back in '98 I hit one in a friend's jeep outside Oxford, MS. He was drunk and I was driving him home. A deer ran out and I slammed on the brakes. I still managed to clip it. It was sprawled on the road, very much alive but with a clearly shattered jaw. Before I was even sure what was going on my friend mumbled something about putting it out of its misery and pulled a 9 mm from his glove box, stumbled out, and opened fire. The deer regained its senses pretty quickly (friend was really shitfaced and was spraying wildly) and the deer got up and ran off. Had to keep my friend from shooting at it as it ran through someone's front yard. Some of my friends were real dumbasses back then.

I've hit deer three different times. Hit two at the same time once. One was a buck in velvet, his horns looked like croutons rolling over my front windshield.

Friend of mine had her husband going to work on Greenwell Springs Road many years ago and a horse ran out, hit, came through the windshield and decapitated him. She was pregnant with their only child. It was a very sad time.

I've had a close call but never hit one or had one hit me. See them all over the side or the GS Parkway

I'd take the deer all day every day over a horse.

I had a coyote run into the side of my car last summer. My window was down and I saw a blur come out of nowhere and heard a loud thunk as it hit the door. Pulled over and there was coyote fur stuck in the door handle. If he had been a few inches higher that fricker would've been in my lap.

Once in central Texas. Baby deer hit my right near fender, spun around, and ran off.

When I was younger I collided with a deer . We were drunk running over mailboxes on a dirt road in Valdosta, Ga. around 2am. Saw a deer on the other side of a drainage ditch and veered off the road to hit the deer. But smashing through the ditch and into a pine tree did a lot more damage to my front end than grazing the deers hind end .
