It was my home field advantage week and the booty call hit one coming over. She kept coming instead of turning around.

Driving up to Cleveland on a 6 lane divided highway in a brand new Crew Cab SLT GMC Sierra.
Saw it coming from my right and I was in the fast last. I slightly swerved and the damn thing ran into the back passenger door and got rolled up in the wheel well. There was fur everywhere in the well.
It's very common for there to be deer carcasses all along the highway in the country up here when the time is right.

I live out in the countryside in NW Arkansas, a bunch of farms and wooded area. I've seen so many roadkill deer this year. I usually don't go more than a few days w/o seeing deer either crossing the road or in the ditch.
Luckily I've gotten really good at avoiding them. Haven't hit one in over 15 years. My tactic has been to stomp on the gas and swerve around them if they're standing still, if they're moving or on the run slam the brakes.
Sometimes I think they have a death wish. Once in awhile they'll slowly walk out right in front of you. My dad uses those deer whistles, which I think are ridiculous to think keeps deer away from running into your vehicle.

I have hit two deer on the way to work.
My wife has hit one deer.
My youngest son hit two deer at once.
We live in rural Florida.
BUT the best story is my oldest son's father in law hit a deer. He stopped and put the deer in his trunk. After a while the deer came to life and kicked out the backseat and was flopping around in the car. He took out his pistol and shot the deer. Unfortunately he also his his battery.

Hit a moose in my dads old truck when we lived in Alaska. The moose won.

Only one, in Michigan last August. Minor damage, dead deer. A redneck with a funny accent pulled over, checked on me, and wrestled it into his truck and hauled arse to get it into the freezer quickly.

Once, out in Wyoming. At dusk. Two deer on the Interstate. One jumped out of the way, the other into the path of the car. Smashed the AC radiator. Company car so no estimate on the damage.

I don't understand this comment?
bummer about the person who hit a horse! That is awful. Sounds like deer collisions are pretty common...the guy at Enterprise car rental here said it provides a good portion of their business here!

Had one deer collision and one moose collision. Moose was at low speed, so minimal damage.

Never hit one but I was driving down I-65 from Montgomery to Mobile the other night well past dark and they were goddamn all over the side of the highway. Scared the shite out of me...the last group of them looked like they were just about to cross in front of my car but I managed to speed past them.

Slightly related note, does anyone remember the video game Crusin' USA on N64 and at arcades?
They would have deer on the side of road and would explode on impact if you hit them.
I thought it was cows. If you hit them just right the head would bounce down the road in front of you.

The stretch on I10 between Sonora and Ozona TX is where all suicidal deer assemble at dusk. Lowering the speed limit only made it easier for them.
