I watched it last night and really enjoyed. The deliberately slow pace is what gave the movie an old fashioned western feel, IMO. And I agree, the dialogue was great and had some dark wit. Probably the best western I've seen to come in the last 5 years.

Easily the best line in the movie. I found the character development to a little rushed, the dialog to be a little forced, and "the scene" to be very unnecessary, but over all it was a solid, enjoyable movie. It was an independent flick done with not that much money so it is impressive. Solid 3.5 out of 5 for me. The next movie this guy makes should have a better budget and more time to perfect each scene's delivery.

My exact feelings. As to the character development being rushed, I felt like something major was cut about the mayor and his bossy wife, wish we couldve seen a little more of life in Bright Hope and less of the journey to the caves. Also, after watching again I love Richard Jenkins performance. Hard to believe its the same guy:

I just started it and need to know if this truly is a "horror" flick. I'm not into that type.

The last 20 minutes or so drift into horror territory but that's about it.

I enjoyed it, the "scene" didn't bother me at all...

Not just horror. One really rough scene. Don't listen to people that say its nothing. They LIKE horror / torture / gore.

There is a reason it is called The Scene.

If it was nothing, it wouldn't even be mentioned.

It isn't a true horror, but it's certainly a horror western. It might be slow and meditative, but it is meant to create "monsters," that exist outside of one scene. And there's an intended sense of shock on multiple levels.

heck I want to watch it but my Fire Tc is acting up, not playing Amazon or Netflix videos, but plays anything off of Kodi, maybe some kind of craptastic control to keep people from using Kodi.

I didn't say the whole movie is horror. It is a western with one scene out of cannibal holocaust but that one scene might be too much for some people. Not everyone wants to see that shite.

Try force stopping kodi before trying to launch Netflix. That's what I always have to do.

Nice anti-western concept and script but the editing and cinematography felt like amateur hour. 3.5 / 5 like someone else said sounds about right.

The movie was shot for peanuts on a studio back lot so this aspect is going to take a hit.
