Poor Mrs. Patmore. That really was the worst commission ever.

They have really changed Lord Grantham from a clueless aristocrat to a pretty wise dude. Last season and this first episode dude has been on top of things.

Lord Grantham showing his daughter how the big dogs play... that was awesome.

The cook having to talk her way across a tightrope as she pimped the two old folks into doing the nasty... Priceless.

They make it appear that prior to broadcast entertainment, the masses lived and died by gossip. Makes for great TV.

I want one more caper where they turn Thomas loose on some unsuspecting ne're do-well.

You can talk about Sunday's PBS episode, just not the rest of the season.

true

but in the first season it was 1912 and he literally didnt have to worry about anything other than walking with his dog everyday and eating dinner so its not like he had to be clever

this season its 1925, he's been in a war, he's had to come to terms with the fact that his old way of life and traditions are unfeasible and if he wants Downton to stay afloat he's going to have to get smart about how he runs things

a lot's happened to the poor chap in 13 years

all of that, plus the loss of his daughter and even worse, the loss of Isis have made him a wise old brit

I'm so glad they didn't drag that whole storyline along.

And I'm also happy they finally don't have anything hanging over Mr. and Mrs. Bates! I think that is a first.

Dowager f'n with her maid for stirring things up was excellent as well.

I'll miss her part most of all. She's gold! I was sort of hoping she'd fire the maid, but I guess she couldn't get dressed if she did.

I'm so so glad not to have the Bates in trouble any longer. That was way too much and drawn out too long.

I was also glad they nipped the Mary blackmail storyline in the bud. It wasn't interesting. I think I'd have just told her that we will have the police come on down right away and resolve this matter. I wouldn't have given her a dime and taken the risk.

Does it get cold up there on the moral high ground?

Last night's episode not as fast moving as the previous week's, but I can see that they're very much moving towards tying up loose ends for everyone by the end of the season (hopefully).

Well, I'd say you'd have to ask her, but she's merely a character in a series. A damn funny one.
