Yeah but they have shown him trying to redeem himself.

I love that they added another puppy finally. Was wondering when Lord Grantham would get a replacement for Isis. Poor dog killed off only cause it had an unfortunate name.

Me too. That was a shame. I've already forgotten what he named the new puppy.

I haven't reached the point of feeling too badly for Thomas. I need to see more of him trying to redeem himself. He's been pretty bad.

It was the Dowager's way of telling her family that, while she was too angry to be around them, she still cared for them and was very aware of their needs.

All I know is that the next I get really pissed off at my family I'm just going to go to the south of France for a while to cool off - best idea ever.

Edith will end up happily married, a great job and husband, despite the scandal of a child born out of wedlock.

Mary will be left husbandless and stuck with Downtown.

Oh the irony of it all.

That was an action packed episode.

The Dowager is back!

Mary is a bitch, a married one but a bitch for spilling Edith's secret. I think Edith's beau will resurface. I want her to overrank Mary.

Carson had turned into an a-hole snob.
Tom is a hero. So is Mrs Hughes.
Barrow has my sympathy now.
Moseley is lovable.

Mrs Patmore's situation is hilarious, bless her heart.

I didn't understand what's coming next week. Sounds like it's not an actual episode and the last real episode is the following week.

I'm sad there is only one episode left

And Barrow has had my sympathy for a few episodes.

And I really hope Edith's man returns as well(let the poor girl have a happy ending in the finale). I'm glad she finally got to tell Mary off.

They seem to be wrapping everything up nicely. I doubt that they'll leave Edith with an unhappy ending. They've tortured her enough in this series.

Even though they telegraphed Mary's attack on Edith's happiness, it was still pretty shocking.

The same with Thomas's action and the reaction from the family. I thought he was done for. I didn't see the sympathy for him coming from Carson and Lord Grantham and Lady Mary.

They moved in fast forward last night. It was action packed.

Mary is a very jealous woman and she's truly ugly to Edith. Edith has been such a sad forlorn character. It was good to see her stand up for herself for once. She made Mary look worse than she already did.

I think the show will end with Edith at the top. I hope so.

And, another thing...

After all we've endured with Bates and Anna, we better see them with a healthy baby before this series ends! She wasn't even showing last night that I could tell.

And, who knew Spratt was an undercover columnist!!

the whole "teach the town children" thing was weird. did only rich kids go to school back then?

I would imagine the poor kids just really needed to learn basics(reading, etc). Remember he was teaching history. Those children all had parents in service so they likely were thinking "why do I need to learn this if all I'm gonna do is follow in my parent's footsteps?"

Him admitting he was also a service worker made the kids more interested cause he was now seen as "one of them" who was able to rise above his station. Obviously people did rise above their station back then but it likely wasn't something done often, especially in small towns like that.

I was somewhat surprised to learn that kids in tourist areas (that's where I was; not sure about the rest) go to school from age 6 to 12. I guess after learning the basics they are expected to get to work.
Maybe the same thing?

I think nurse is correct, plus times were changing rapidly at that time. I don't know how long children of the serving classes had been provided any formal schooling at all. Remember that Andrew can't read and Barrow was attempting to teach him. I don't recall if they explained why he couldn't read.

Anyway, they've tied up Mosely's loose end.

I think (and hope) that we'll see Anna and Bates with a child by the end. I think Mary will be pregnant again. I have a feeling Tom may have a larger role than she does in running the place. Wonder if he'll come up with a spouse before it's said and done?

I'm sure hopeful Edith gets a happy ending. It certainly would not be fair for Mary to be married off and happy and for her to get the shaft.
oh and LOL at Mrs. Patmore's "house of ill-repute"
