It fits the way in which Miles normally fires someone. Rather than fire them on the spot he basically tells them to find a job and supports them on their way out. That's how he did it with Peveto and several others. Hard to tell. I think it was somewhat mutual.

^^This. As I recall, during his tenure at LSU, Les has never "fired" a coach; they always find a different job that's almost always described as a "better" position for the ex-coach in some way. Of course, Steele's situation is just my speculation. OTOH, everything else's thoughts on this thread are also pure speculation as no one here really has any reliable "insider" information. Of course, every now and then some one will claim to know the real story, but they'll always qualify it by saying they can't divulge their source.

Because no fricking way the problem could be Miles' antiquated offense.

The antiquated offense didn't cause the defensive breakdowns this year

LSU's offensive is the best In the country when it comes to dealing with the modern spread because the lighter spread players can't handle our size and speed combination players ! We simply hurt them into submission !

That's true. But DJ had some compliance issues. I was thinking along the lines of coaching "performance" issues. Mallory, Peveto, Studwara, et al were spun as "better opportunities", closer to home, etc. Everyone here knew they'd been fired, but CLM never actually said that.

I'm still trying to figure out how we made Treon Harris look like a good QB.

Yes. Les wanted Aranda last year. Alleva prevented it with his stupid arse 2-year deal with Miles clause nonsense that Aranda refuses to take. Miles' ability to hire is handcuffed and we wind up with him making the best of it by hiring a good recruiter.

I can't say that you're without a doubt wrong, but I don't think scoring defense alone would get him fired.

Year- Ypg
2008 - 325.5
2009 - 327.6
2010 - 307.2
2011 - 261.5
2012 - 307.6
2013 - 340.7
2014 - 316.8
2015 - 347.2

Well, this year was worse than I thought. I guess we all knew Kevin Steele wasn't a great coach based on his history.

<<...didn't even compete for our division title...>>

Um...LSU was 1st in the West and no 2 in the country at the start of November. I'll take that at the start of November every single year.

No I don't believe he was fired, but I don't think we put up much of a fight when informed about the offer from AU.

I could understand this line of thinking had he taken a job at a much lesser program. But I find it hard to believe we were able to privately let him go, get AU to hire him, and pay us a buy out.

it makes little sense he would not jump ship last year, but would this year, regardless of a 3rd year.
