Which one do you prefer to hunt and why? Also do the deer prefer one to the other early or late in the season?

Deer love eating acorns from hardwoods but lay down in pine thickets.
I want to be in between both.

I like a good mix of pine hills and hardwood bottoms. They use them both, so if you have both you have a better chance of catching them moving from one to another.
Obviously the eat acorns, but I've found lots of beds in young pine thickets.

Neither....the edge between the two is best

Put a tree stand at the edge of both

I don't know why, but I hate pine trees.

I'd rather be in hardwoods. I find it hard to hunt in pines

I hate a pine tree but young planted pines is deer heaven. It's thick as hell for good bedding and plenty to browse on. Until it gets cold enough to kill the weeds and shite in the pines they have no need to come out. I hunt the hard woods on the edge and it's been terrible this year with the warm weather. The guys in the pines are smashing.

I would be happy if I never saw another pine tree again.

With pine trees, you've got to hunt the terrain features and food plots. That makes it somewhat easier
