Arkansas OL Coach search thread

Some early names being floated around...
Bob Bostad: Probably has the most merit at this point. He coached with Bert from 2006-2011 at Wisconsin. He served as OL coach and running game coordinator there under Bert. He coached 3 All Americans on the Oline and his running game had at least one 1,000 yard rusher each season.
Mark Staten: 5 years as OL coach at Michigan State. 4 consecutive seasons with a FR All American. Has coached a Remington finalist and All American center. State rushed for over 3k yards in 2014. Only allowed 11 sacks in 2014, the fewest in the Big Ten. Has coached with current Arkansas OC Dan Enos. Staten only makes $250,000 at Michigan State. Arkansas was paying Pittman $550k/year.
Jeff Stoutland: OL coach of Philadelphia Eagles. He was OL coach at Alabama from 2011-he took the Eagles job in 2013. Was also OL coach at Michigan State, Miami, Syracuse, and Cornell. Won national titles with Alabama in 2011 and 2012. Familiar with the type of offense that Bert likes to run. Philly is a pretty shaky spot right now. Would be a good fit and familiar territory for Stoutland.
Alex Atkins: Georgia Southern OL coach. In 2014 his offensive line paved the way for the top rushing offense in FBS. Went to GSU from Chattanooga. Again in 2015, Georgia Southern leads the FBS in rushing yards per game at 355 and only allowed 8 sacks all season in 2015.

Let's just wrap Bostad up and call it a day.

Yep, get it done. I don't think we're too far off from this happening.

Bostad makes all kinds of sense and is actually an upgrade from Pittman which will be hard to pull off.

Bostad sucks dick... Please get him out of Nashville. His OL is total garbage... Has been for two years.

Sounds like he needs to get back to the college game where he was elite.

He can't help what OL the franchise signs to play.
He can pick what he wants at the college level.
Bostad is a proven OL coach, and a very good one.

The Titans have spent millions in FA on the OL... and drafted OLs in the 1st round two of the last three years... yet they are still bad. Then you have a guy like Michael Oher come here and play absolutely awful last year... gets cut, signs with the Panthers and he's the starting LT for the best team in the league.
He may be great in college where he can out-muscle mediocre BigTen DLs... but when the talents equal, he's shown nothing.
I realize a lot of this is on TN front office and Whizenhunt... but you can't tell me guys like Chance Warmack and Taylor Lewan don't have NFL talent... yet they never improve.

Good. Fire him. I'd love to have the guy that coached Wisconsin's line when they were easily the best in the nation

Yeah he's proven at the college level so I'm good with rolling the dice. Plenty of college coaches have failed in the NFL. It's a different world up there. Hopefully he just didn't get beaten down too bad and would still have that fire.

Heard something on the 103.7 about how they might promote a long time graduate assistant to the ol coach spot

For the Liberty bowl. Bielema said he isn't someone he would consider long term, but he would do fine for the bowl game. Trying to get a waiver for Brey Cook (I think) to be GA. He was to start in January anyway.

only allowed 8 sacks all season in 2015.

It's like our media doesn't even listen to what Bielema says in his press conferences. He specifically told them that he would not consider promoting Mateos.

Not happening. Bert said on Sat. that he wouldn't consider Mateos for the full time job.
