What is that, 4 people who have told UT no?

Cam Cameron is about to be a FA, make him an offer charlie

You know something that all of us don't?
Posted on 12/11/15 at 1:50 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
They know it's just a one year job.

This is the greatest shite show known to man. It makes the Saban fiasco of 2 years ago look like a well-oiled machine. Blame can be placed everywhere.

From what I've been hearing, it seems like the BMD's and BOR are doing their damnedest to frick Charlie over. This is turning into a complete shite show

Maybe we are tuning into the same place to hear stuff but I don't believe anyone is absolved here - donors, BOR, Strong, Perrin...anyone.

It's a collective shitshow for sure and Charlie didn't do himself any favors with his initial hirings but it seems to me like the terms of a contract would have more to do with the administration than it would with Charlie.
Here's a snippet from what Nahlin had to say:

Texas would prefer the illusion of support rather than actually supporting Strong. The BOR is dragging its feet with Gilbert like with Cumbie. Whoever leaked the terms for Cumbie (and it wasn't Strong's camp) are gumming up negotiations with other candidates.
Basically, because the political cost of firing Strong was too great we're left with something that looks like this, something worse.

There's reports out that Strong either didn't relay the correct terms or Gilbert misunderstood them. Who f**** knows. Here's the deal - any OC who wants a guarantee that Strong is going to be here in 2017 isn't getting one. And shouldn't. If that's the hold up for them then I have no problem with it.

Hard to believe coaches turn down Texas.
I guess with an unstable coaching situation it is hard to leave a stable environment.
With the talent at Texas why not take that job and in one year you could be the hottest commodity on the market if you produce.
Has talent evaluation really been Texas downfall?
Even in down years they should be able to cherry pick anyone.
It's not like that conference has SEC heavyweights to deal with.
No reason Baylor, TCU, Okl St should be above them

All I know is that this entire situation is bad for all parties involved and the media will have a field day with it

Zero players drafted Mack's last year and almost no talented upperclassmen. It's a big part for sure. Charlie didn't help himself out with his initial hirings and continued faith in Shaun Watson. His hole is probably too deep to dig out of at this point, especially with the circus this OC search is turning into

well his contract is up, so in theory he'll be on the open market to the highest bidder!

We are told Texas did have advanced discussions with Gilbert today but, despite what was reported Thursday evening, clearly there was never an agreement in the first place.
Your own link says he was contacted

If I were him I would go get the best FCS HC or OC that was available.

They should look at a young up and comer.
I would advise Lashlee!
And chip in for the bus ticket.

Texas President Greg Fenves, AD Mike Perrin and Charlie Strong are ALL flying to Tulsa to get Sterlin Gilbert. First by @AnwarRichardson.

Well that certainly one way for the administration to cover its arse for the lack of support towards Charlie. Media is already shitting on them so this seems like a bit of damage control as well as finally finishing this fricking OC search

Before this, what constituted "lack of support" in your mind?
I've heard this stuff from Steven A Smith, and a few others, about every black coach in a head coaching job at major schools who aren't getting results.
I have to ask anyone who thinks that way... Do you think these programs were willing to hire a black man and purposefully run it down by not showing him "support"?
I mean, Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Penn State.... Did they all do this or going through this to just tank for a few years on purpose?
What's the benefit?
