A group of friends are planning to do a hotel bar "crawl" before Christmas in order to see the decorations in the lobbies of the hotels and have a nice night in the city.

We already know about the main places to try (Roosevelt/Sazerac, carousel bar, etc), but can you guys help to pick out a few other places? We'd like to limit the amount of cab/uber trips, but we realize that it'll be necessary at times.

Also, looking for suggestions on a restaurant for an early dinner to get the night started.

I imagine the Ritz will be pretty decked out. They have the "Davenport Lounge" on the 3rd floor.

they've had good decorations in the loa bar (international house) in the past but I haven't been this year.

good cocktails at sobou (w in quarter). I was really impressed with their food when we ate there thanksgiving night--it was a special menu though.

You should probably stop into Chuck's Damn Near 24 Hour Bar. While not in a hotel, the place is always filled with hotel workers. And it is down street from Polo Lounge.

Used to love Pete's Pub around the holiday. Had the vibe of some NYC bar in a subway station if that makes sense. But they made it all modern hotel ey with lights and stuff. The mardi gras murals are still there though.

For food, just go to Domenica for happy hour.

Found this thread searching for basically the same question- anything new in the past few years?

How’s the lobby/bar at the four seasons? Any other bars around town that go all out?
