Federal premium ballistic tip 130gr .270
Posted on 12/8/15 at 8:44 am to slapahoe
Conventional jacketed soft points on the heavy side of what's offered for that caliber.
Federal blue box is always the first thing I try. If the rifle likes them I shoot that. My .30-30 likes the 170gr blue box so that's what I use. The .30-06 doesnt like them in any weight so I've switched to 165 Sierra gamekings which it shoots extremely well. Have only shot one deer with them but it looks like they'll work as advertised. I would prefer to shoot 180's but my rifle doesn't seem to like heavy bullets.

I usually shoot ballistic but have had the last couple of deer run a bit with no blood trail whatsoever. I'm no marksman but I put pretty good shots on the deer.
Have some ol timers that I have hunted with that swear by this:LINK

I had terrible blood trails with the Federal ballistic tips, but very good blood with the Winchester silver ballistics.

I like the Hornady superformance loads for most calibers... hydraulic science at Hornady kinda sets them apart...... (ellipses) for effect and YOUR welcome
