He still could have handled everything that went down before the deal was killed better

His statements, or lack of statements, is what made this a complete shitshow

I've said all along that Alleva was handcuffed throughout this entire process.

He still doesn't look good, but I think it's clear this wasn't all on him.

His "lack of statements" was the only thing keeping the Jimbo deal alive. Alleva made one statement - A final decision will be announced after the A&M game. That's exactly what happened.

What came in between was people higher up than him meddling in business that wasn't theirs.

I think Alleva needs to go, still.

Yes, F'King Alex is the ultimate buffoon, but Alleva also has to take blame for the terrible approach to the media rumors for the last 3+ weeks, and for apparently not having a frank discussion with the guy holding veto power early on about the political crap in play.

No way do you, Alleva, let it get so far with Fisher without getting your bossman on record that he will not stand in the way.

Idiots. All of them.

Looks okay for him I guess but there were a lot of factors in that.

Alleva still looks stupid for letting this fester and having it spin beyond his control.

Unless you believe he got the OK to can Miles (because "his business" or not, that's something you probably want to clue the boss in on), negotiated with Jimbo and reached a deal with Jimbo only to have Alexander say "Just kidding".

Seems a little thin to me that he had absolutely no clue which way the wind was blowing on this.

I don't understand what was expected of him since he likely thought the deal was going to happen.

As someone said, Alleva is the scapegoat here.

He still sucks. Opinion doesn't change just because someone else might also suck.

Well my CEO once told me not to pay a vendor during the AP meeting.

Good thing I can print checks and have a stamp with his signature on them.

Lesson: Alleva should've made the deal so airtight and finalized before FKA even realized what hit him that he would be forced to approve.

And how could he do that when the person holding the existing contract could not be fired because politicians interfered?

Everyone should shoulder the blame...Alexander, alleva, board of supervisors. They all ran around like chickens with their head cut off serving their own agenda, and in the end everyone ends up looking like an idiot. Why in the hell couldn't we have had an adult lead this thing and get everyone going in the same direction?

Not as bad. However, Alleva is actually a "vice-chancellor" and frankly, should have had enough sense to make sure his boss(es) and he were on the same page.

Piss poor administration, leadership, directorship - no coordination, no brainstorming well before all of this crap became public. Very, very poor.
