Why is OK for the state taxpayers to be forced to pay the richest man in Louisiana, Tom Benson, $400 million just to keep his team in NOLA?
You sure bring this up a lot. Pretty much all the time and never back it up
What actual analysis have you done on the economic impact of the saints and dome on the state?
Super Bowls, final 4s, championships, etc
Not to mention that most of the $400 million is indirect, which the state also makes money off of (like concessions). Benson Tower was wasting away and rotting before this deal too. The growth of that area has been pretty amazing since 2005

Continue contacting the Board of Supervisors and let them know you won't give to the academic or athletics side until major changes are made. They meet next Friday and it's the last meeting for many of the members.

How have so many of you people never heard of reputation risk?

Good lord please tell me you don't equate these as being the same and have anything to do with each other?
One is public money spent on a polarizing, pride instilling , self sufficient entity, enjoyed by a majority of LA residents and the other a public/political interest funded annoying display of LA politics, a national embarrassment enjoyed by none (or so I thought).

The Board of Supervisors was supposedly in Alexander's camp way more than the fire Miles camp.

Somebody needs to start a petition to get this arseclown removed from LSU. Anybody that would publicly admit to that or even hint at bankruptcy or suspending football season, while you spend $85million on a f**king lazy river is not fit to lead a university. How hard would it have been to say no comment?

“The public at large really doesn’t differentiate where the money comes from,” he says. “No matter how you explain it, it’s still a $15 million to $25 million decision that needs to be factored into the overall equation.”
There's so much fail in this statement. Private donors were going to inject money and an improvement into the schools main source of income and they turned it down so they could play the poor LSU card at the next legistative session. This is why poors stay poor.
And now theyve doubled down on stupid by admitting they really didnt want to keep Miles, they just didnt want to look like they were spending a lot to replace him.

And do these funds for academics and football get pulled from the same pool of money?

So where did this "half and half" estimation come from? Did he take a poll or something? Does he not know TigerDroppings exist?

The BOS is appointed by the governor.
It is considered a coveted appointment.
If you look at the folks who populate the Board, you will quickly see (if you know La. politics) that the appointees are overwhelmingly political appointments, who have no business on a board having such an importance influence on the future of higher education in Louisiana.
One hopes the new governor selects folks based on a criterion other than pleasing those who made the biggest contributions to his campaign.

Have you been by the area lately. LSU Rec is undergoing a massive overhaul since opening in 91 or so.
It's going to have a fricking LSU shaped lazy river.

Idk. I really enjoy LSU football games and made erry home game this year(SC don't count!). Fish heads for the lot of em. Geaux Miles!
And how much will it cost Alumni to join the new rec? I'm interested in that pool area just to be 'that old dude' with a magazine over his lap near the pool.
