Pretty cool once they start the brass blasting

I don't agree.

They should have had a single "screamer" trumpet player do the chorus, at least the first time around. Then, maybe bring in the full band. It was way too much for me.

But kudos to the Dancin' Dolls. The GG's could learn a few moves from them.

They just play as loud as they can and everyone thinks it sounds good. Baffling.

Nah man, watch the whole video from the battle of the bands. They play alot of songs at a normal tone and sound great.

Shitty Youtube audio quality is shitty.

As much as I like the SU Band, I'd prefer the money go to face surgery for the cheerleaders dancing out in front of the band, because I wouldn't get my 50 foot pole within 50 feet of them.

It is beyond the music. It is the collective power pushing into dissonance that gives them ethereal quality at times. By no objective means does Louis Armstrong have what anyone would call a quality voice- but that didn't stop him from voicing his appeal. Yes, sometimes Southern gets sloppy, but sometimes they also hit an irregular perfection.

but finished it out because of the dolls..

I respect that opinions will differ, but I think that their rendition actually does an injustice to the song. Too many blasting and cacophonous horns trying to belt out the plaintive refrain of a single emotional voice. It seems to miss the point.

There are times to blast your horn at full volume and times when not to. The problem with Southern's band is that they have no idea when to not blast the shite out their horns. Screeching trumpets, blasting t-bones, and blatting tubas do not belong in an Adele song.

If their football team was one fifth as good as their band they would be relevant.
