Do we/can we make a push for Jimbo next year?

Say Miles craps the bed next year as well with no changes to offense and another .500 SEC record and the powers that be actually decide to make a move. Was this the only window to pull Jimbo in, or will this happen again next year? Honest question because I'm not really knowledgeable about the contract/buyout situations.
FTR I'm not saying Jimbo is the only and best option. Just wondering if this was the only shot if we did want him.

He just burned Alleva. There is no chance we offer him the job.

That's my initial thought. I know there seemed be a bit of urgency (probably just from the rant) about it that probably centered on the recruiting class and not wasting our last season with Fournette.

We'll get Chip Kelly next year.

After this debacle, it would be absurd to believe the powers that be, aren't creating an exit strategy from Miles if we get more of the same.
This year was rather unique when Miles has us as #2 with no significant wins and the shite hits the fan when we face the meat of our schedule. The issue has now been framed and the problems with Les have been addressed.
I think we now have a very unhealthy internal atmosphere in which to move forward.

LOL
NO
LSU has decided that they are not going to try and keep up with the Coaches Arms race.
King Alexander and Alleva have to go

Current powers that be will frick that up too.
They ran this with their laptops open. They all caved to the Internet and ESPN.
You might as well have a non-LSU nonprofit focus group from Massachusetts run the athletic dept.
It would be cheaper, better run and less embarrassing.

How realistic is this? I knew nothing about King before this weekend, and I feel dirty after reading up on his role in this.

Please God, no.
My biggest problem with this whole ordeal is how LSU fans have somehow all gotten together and decided that Jimbo Fisher is this amazing head coach. It's like we all have collective amnesia from his time here as OC. And while FSU has picked back up now that they have jettisoned the fetid corpse of Bobby Bowden, let's not forget that Jimbo was the OC during their downturn.
FSU is one game better than LSU in the standings with a MUCH easier schedule. According to Fremeau's SOS rankings (my personal favorite metric for long reasons I won't get into), LSU's SOS ranks 3rd. FSU? 39th.
Jimbo builds gaudy records against one of the easiest schedules a contending team plays in the nation, and then gets exposed when his team plays an actual elite team. Or, usually, his team loses to a far inferior opponent just about every year. His offenses aren't particularly innovative for those of you pining for the spread, as he's a late adopter. He tends to be just like Miles in the concept of just throwing talent out there and hoping God sorts things out.
And let's not even get into the off-the-field stuff. He's not worth the headache for no appreciable upgrade over Miles. You want to fire Les? Fine. Find a better candidate. Jimbo is not the answer. He is not an upgrade.

Extremely realistic! As it was put to me from someone in the know that I trust mid last week, is the only way the deal did not happen as discussed was if "LSU fricked it Up". Well, guess what?
All you guys that doubt how things unfolded as referenced in The Hayride piece from yesterday, really should reflect on who, what and how things occur in this state. Politics and power have and will continue to dictate every aspect of LSU until the mega donors yank their funding. I for one truly hopes Miles has an epiphany and makes the necessary changes but I have rarely seen change from people set in their ways. It can happen but infrequently does. I know what is likely to happen from a coaching perspective this time next year but it will be interesting to see what the fallout will be from mega donors as I immediately started hearing unfavorable comments. "Somebody's" need to pay the price. Start at the top! Presidents and admisitrators routinely come and go but the typical fan is always left in the ruins. Personally I pray there is a grassroots movement to remove Alexander and Alleva and get true leadership in place ASAP!

Didn't Huey Long actually like lsu?

Please stop with the Jimbo nonsense. It's never a good idea to take a coach from a top tier program and bring them to another top tier program. it's always a better idea to get an up and comer.

Who is Alexander? Got a link to whatever you were reading? I'm interested. TIA
