re: Realistically, what highly regarded OC would want to come here?

He's doing a pretty good job ruining his reputation on his own. Doesn't need to attach himself to Miles to do that.

What coordinators / assistants of CLM are highly sought-after?
What coaching-tree legacy is he producing?

Wow! That hurt but is so true..

Hopefully, Les expended all of his political capital in this power play and will be gone next year.
Really?
I'm hoping he realizes he can't get the job done offensively, and let's his next OC run things with minimal input or influence.
I don't care who the HC of LSU is, I want them to win a lot of games.

After the Ravens fired Cam their offence got much better the year they won the SB. He's not that good, sorry. I believe we can do better even with Miles.

I already said I'd take the job (although I know more about defense)

I thought the lynch mob had $15,000,000. Should find a guy for that.

Cameron never impressed me at the NFL level, but I would have thought an NFL coordinator could succeed at the college level.
Either CCC stinks on ice or Miles is a massive handicap on the offense.
It doesn't matter: I'll be hoping like hell the next OC can implement a functioning passing game to give LSU some balance.

I am reading an article that says no one will want to come to a shite show where they know Miles will run his offense.
Says Josh Henson is a real possibility because he and Miles have history. You know the OC of that juggernaut Mizzou offense that did not score a TD for like 3 or 4 games in a row.

Honestly I've never thought about this. Miles has been around for a very long time and has been very successful. But nobody has come beating down our door to hire his assistants for HC gigs.
On Saban's side, Jimbo (I know he coached 2 years for Miles but left for a lateral gig) is a HC, McElwain is a head coach, Muschamp was a head coach, Kirby Smart will be a head coach
Meyer....Addazio, Mullen, Herman
For once I'd like to see Miles hire some assistants that are coveted by the college football world as quality coaches.

So lets say a guy comes for 1 million per
He is risking being out of work the next year
That isn't a real risk.
Gary frickign Crowton got a job at a Power 5 school after leaving LSU.
Stud works at Maryland.
Thats a made up concern.

Should tell you something about the Head Coach ... and the people around him.
All I'm sayin'.

Jimbo got hired as a HCIW at the age of 41
Pelini got hired as a HC
Parter got hired as a HC
Chavis never wanted to be a HC otherwise he would have been, and he got hired away for $1.6 Million
Henry and Cooper got hired by NFL teams
What we can say is that our OC's haven't been very good since Fisher. but its not like they are blowing the world up elsewhere either.

... that the dude has won 111 games with a grossly overpaid scrub-squad of assistant coaches?
Was that the lesson I was supposed to come away with?

I think most posters miss the point that whoever we would try to hire would be on what would effectively be a one year contract.
This is the same dilemma faced by Chavis.
Any new HC will require that he hire his own OC and can only be held accountable if he does.
Anybody coming next year knows it could be Les' last year.

offense has been annual shite since 2010. Yet this board still says its Cam Cameron's fault and wants him to be fired. Its an absolute lie that people won't blame the OC.
LSU out scored its opponents 500 to 158 in 11. Might wanna add 2011 there. I know, 1/9/12.

A young, up and coming coach would love to come here for 1 season, getting a fat paycheck. Getting exposure, and if he can be known as the guy to turn around Les's offensive woes, it'll be the jumpstart to huge things for that guy.
If it fails, it's just a 1 year investment probably.
Risk/reward seems to be heavily in favor of a young up and coming guy taking this opportunity without hesitation.
