Went to the Army-Navy game a few years back. Imagine being around 10,000 young men aged 18-22, and not a single one of them is being a dick.

Don't hold me to this but I am pretty sure that Annapolis is a little more lax in the military weight standards than West Point. Seems that I remember reading about this a number of years ago.

Army couldn't find a good college coach if Saban walked through their doors.

The difference is front line or away from major combat. Most people would prefer positions away from major combat, which the Navy specializes in. Navy would be my first choice if I went into the military

They are much more patient with their head coaches. Troy Calhoun has been at Air Force for almost a decade. Same thing with Ken Niumatalolo at Navy.
While they don't pull the trigger that quickly, they really aren't especially patient. Army has had 6 head coaches since 1998. Nothing to be patient about re Calhoun and Niumatalolo.
Navy and Air Force sign primarily FCS recruits, but they recruit well over the 25 limit and put them in a prep school. From that they can find enough who turn out to have FBS ability, put them in a system, teach them to play team ball, and they have competitive teams.

While that may be true if you were to enlist, the Naval Academy is different. A significant portion of each graduating class will go on the be USMC officers. Not to mention other Navy combat roles. It's been suggested more than once in this thread that someone would choose Annapolis because they would be less likely to serve in a combat role, which is really fricking insulting to each of those young men. Others have suggested that standards are more lax at Annapolis, which is also incorrect. The standards and requirements are equally strenuous between the service academies. Navy's football team has been dominate within the service academies because of coaching and system.

As of right now, because Army doesn't have Ken Niumatalolo.

It wasn't that long ago that Navy used to suck even worse than Army. Then they got a coach worth a damn and kept on giving their program great coaching staffs.
Army hasn't.
Period.

Don't ask, don't tell also applies to service academy football coaching techniques and secrets.

Navy's Athletic Foundation also privately funds their teams. They have the biggest budget of the three schools.

During my time, any time we had inter-service sports (football, softball, whatever), the Navy and Air Force teams typically kicked the shite out of the Army and Marines. Yeah, yeah....this ain't intramurals brother.

From what someone at work was telling me, the navy has a much more involved plan for getting graduated cadets into the NFL. The navy will allow drafted me leave to partake in NFL preseason camps to allow them to get a try once they leave service.

This, they probably figure less of a chance of being killed during service in the Navy or Air Force than the Army

Less than 1 percent of the military has combat roles.
Those who want to be infantry will do it regardless. There are hundreds of other jobs in the Army besides being a grunt.

Pretty ignorant statement since a majority of the Army is not combat arms. Support and logistics are the bulk of any service.
You can fly in the Army as well.
While Navy Academy grads can become Marines.

Service Academy Grads may receive a Commission in any of the Armed Services, although rare for them to take one from a service not related to the Academy from which they graduated.
