Herman, Kelly, or Jimbo all I would be ok with and all would be upgrades. Not a bad year to let go of a coach at a big program IMO.

Russian Roulette. You're talking about a first-year head coach with one 10 win season. Curley also had a 10-win season in his first year at Southern Miss. You could get Saban but you could also get Curley.

two things...

one... bret favre made hallman, it's just that simple.

two, herman (and luke fickle) made the in game adjustments that beat alabama last year... hell look at the ohio state offense this year, they've struggled considerably since herman's departure... last year, ohio state lost their first and second string quarterback and barely missed a beat.

I'd be pretty concerned we paid $15+ mil to push out the current coach for a guy with one whopping year of HC experience.

Id take Herman in a second.

Took a Houston team that was 8-5 last year and turned them into a "contender" this year with same players.

EXACTLY what LSU needs.

how about being the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for ohio state from 2012 to last year, where last year he led the offense to impressive numbers despite losing their first and second string quarterbacks, beating alabama last year and the ohio state offense being inconsistent after his departure... does that do anything for you?

Herman is high risk/reward compared to rest of list.

I think we'd get as much out of Fedora with lower risk.

And if the Texas Job opens up, he'd leave LSU. Assuming he does well here and they hire him.

So maybe get two years out if him, and if he sucks he will be gone in 3.

I think LSU is in a lose situation if you hire Herman.

I would think that LSU had made the best decision possible. Herman is brilliant (Mensa), proved ultra-successful (record), and in the mold of the two coaches
who have built LSU football from the pits to National Championships in just a few
years (Dietzel, Saban). NO other coaches have achieved that at LSU. The mold -
young, aggressive, imaginative, extremely intelligent. I'm for Herman 100% for these reasons.

After watching the two hand touch pillow fight between UT and Texas Tech last night and the Chip Kelly dumpster fire? frick no. "Offensive guru" doesn't really mean what it used to.

How do we know he can recruit, he's been at Houston for ONE YEAR

It's a risk but I'd take him. While I think Jimbo is the safer bet and more of a sure thing, Herman excites me more based on his ceiling. We could have hired Spurrier in '86 but he was "unproven". Sometimes it pays to roll the dice.
