Worst pain of my life. They try to numb your gums but when they drill an inch down into your tooth even that doesn't work.

It shouldn't be too bad.
It didn't hurt a bit when I did my most recent crown on myself. The prolonged numbness is a bit unsettling.
Ask your dentist if he has the reversal agent that removes that numb feeling almost immediately.
