Here they were 3-0 and feeling pretty good about themselves and we go to New York and lose to 2 decent tourney teams.

I'm pretty upset with the way they played in both games, because it seemed like there was no game plan in either. We looked like we were just trying to out talent them, and that will not win games against quality opponents.

Any chance that Coach JJ uses this as motivation and we can win out our OOC games? I hope Ben comes out angry these next few games and puts the NCAA on notice!

Best thing that could have happened to them IMO. Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.

Yeah, no, just no.

Fact is we played like shite and lost to 2 team we shouldn't. This is going to hurt a lot down the road, despite the fact we were missing 2 starters, we dont get that pass the "big programs" get.

The defensive play was very upsetting....and looked like a bunch of standing around on offense.

Missing 2 guys that will be starters come SEC play. They are a young team that will get better. Hornsby comes back and there is no way that him Sampson and Blakeney will be cold on one night. Odds are two of those three will be making shots and you just have to figure out which ones..

LSU's offense is much like a pickup game, so improvement is not forth coming. Also I'm sorry but Simmons does not impress me as being a player considered in the NBA draft after this season. Not one bit. So you'll be happy that he'll at least be at LSU another year after this one.

Simmons needs to shoot when he has a shot instead of being an assist maniac. Quarterman can get only so hot.

Even with Victor, any team with a good front line is going to give us nine kinds of hell.

Add to that a half-court offense that consists mostly of standing around, one pass, and a contested two or a long three--

and I'm not as optimistic as I was before this tourney that we are a Sweet Sixteen team.

Not worried should win next 7, if they drop one of the next 7 I'll be concerned.

They will be fine. When they start to really gel, watch out.

Culotta made a good point that there were some serious parallels between football and basketball. Winning on pure talent...non-disciplined ball, bad coaching. If Johnny doesn't have his best season this year, considering the talent we have, his seat needs to start getting warm.

3/4 if not 4/4 of sampson, quarterman, blakeney, and Simmons will be gone next year.

I was disappointed in the NYC trip, too, but we are presently a poor rebounding team and that could change significantly when Victor arrives. In basketball, a single player can make an enormous difference, and we are still yet to see Victor and Hornsby this year.

At the ends of both halves of the first loss LSU had the ball with about 15 seconds left and timeouts available. Instead of calling timeout and setting up a play to get the ball to the best player in the country the team threw the ball around the perimeter and threw up a 3 from 4 feet past the arc. Not a good sign for the future.

Was this your first time watching a Johnny Jones-coached Basketball Team? No offense but it must've been, because that's his absolute hallmark.

He wants to run it and gun it jack up threes. We're emphasizing passing a little more because of Blakeney and Simmons being so used to each other and having an infectious passing attitude.

But otherwise, we snowbird on defense and even when we don't, we put zero emphasis on stopping the ball on dribble drive/penetration. We couple that with lazy interior defense and even lazier rebounding efforts.

Again...none of this stuff I'm talking about is a recent development. It's been this way since he's got here. It'll be this way once Simmons is gone. It'll be this way until Johnny's gone.

If he wanted to emphasize on-ball defending, rebounding, or the like he'd have done so long, long ago.

One of which previously got blown out at home by that juggernaut William & Mary.

This team is overhyped. Beating McNeese state and Sourh Alabama is not resume building. Same ole shite with Johnny Jones.

3-2 isn't gonna get it done. Get ready for a let down cause these three wins might get you to the NIT.
