What are your thoughts on this neighborhood? Is it worth living here?
Overpriced/ overrated/ underrated? Location? Continues to boom or set to bust? TIA

Do you trust the levee system?

Very nice. Prices are fair. Location sucks, but would still consider it. It's a little far out for me. The people that live there are generally very nice youngish families.

Greens are rolling a 12 right now.

If you work near there or the Hwy 30 chemical plants it's great, but otherwise it's way the frick out there.

Held up thus far

If it was just a little easier to get to it would be great.
I mean it's still super nice, just seems like it would be a hassle to live there.

What levee system does it depend on other than the Miss. river levee?

I looked at joining the golf club as a member, and laughed in their face when they told me how much it costs on a monthly, yearly, and "initiation fee" basis.

It ain't cheap.
Biggest gripe I hear from people that joined is there is always a tournament, and they never have any tee times.

Sucks unless the only things you want to be close to are plants in St. Gabriel, Laberge, and close-ish to LSU.
The only good thing about the place is the golf course is pretty sweet.

Why does the levee system matter? If the levee gives way there is a huge chunk of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas that have to worry, not just University Club. I live south of Highland so if they are screwed then so am I.
I don't think it is far out there. It is a short drive up Bluebonnet to the mall and the interstate. I may be biased since I live near there but I feel like this side of town puts me near all the important things I could need. Bluebonnet, Essen, LSU, Lauberge. I can't imagine what the rest of the city has that these areas dont.

Well, if you live on the opposite side of Highland Road, then this isn't an issue.

It's very nice. A bit pricey per sq ft. Plus HOA approval if you are building there is a bitch. You need approval for EVERYTHING you want designed in your home.
I hear they are going to end up connecting Burbank to the U Club eventually, with a gate. They are constantly building more. Going to be a massive neighborhood when it's all done.

Besides the outrageous prices, the membership only gives you access to the golf course, and you still have to pay a cart fee every time you go, and your guest still has to pay. No thanks.
This was also the "young professional" rate. (25-35)

It's already pretty big. I've heard rumors about them putting in another entrance/exit and even connecting it to Lexington Estates. I haven't heard the Burbank one yet. BUT, that would make that neighborhood MASSIVE if they did that.

I will refute this point. Never had any problems with getting a tee time. And I believe that prices are more than fair.

I will see it's a little ridiculous that UC doesn't allow private carts for its residents (combined with charging a monthly trail fee).
