Listen, even Nick Saban can't go to the national championship every year and loses games he shouldn't (Ole Miss the last two years) and he's the best in the business. You're pretty f*cking stupid if you don't think Jimbo's an upgrade over Miles. There'd be no point in trying to argue with you, but just the mere stupidity of your post would be enough to try.
Yet you're the one about to blow a blood vessel. I'm just here to help you accept the thing that's at the back of your mind, that you know is true. Jimbo isn't an upgrade, and Meyer or Saban ain't walking through that door.

A change to make a change is not and answer. LSU is not getting a Harbaugh, Saban, or Meyer.
Jimbo is a hot name but is he really an upgrade, plus why come when he is set up at FSU.
Herman at Houston is the only coach I would realistically want. He isn't even a sure thing but I like his pedigree.

It's funny how we always equate how someone does in the NFL on whether they were a good QB in college. It's just lke the Heisman Trophy...it is for the best player in COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOT A PREDICTOR OF GREATNESS IN THE NFL!! the winner was for that period of time the greatest player for that year in college. Should Tom Brady have won the Heisman? Tony Romo? Russell Wilson? No, they were OK, immature, 18-22 year-old kids who played well for their schools. I guess after all of this what I am trying to say is college football, while somewhat of a predictor of NFL success, is not the entire catch-all that some folks think it is. Coaches at the college level, COACH COLLEGE KIDS, NOT NFL PLAYERS! Even with all of the success that the "Sabanator" has had in T-town, I don't see the NFL stocked with bama players. He coached/recruited his players at LSU/Bama to win at....wait for it....LSU and Bama!! Not the Cowboys, Giants, Raiders, Patriots, etc.

You can't be helped if you don't see Jimbo as an upgrade over Miles.
LSU struggles to beat even inferior opponents at times, and they aren't even competitive in the losses now.. It's getting very disgusting.
You just can't be helped. Miles can't get adequate qb play on a consistent basis, Jimbo is proven to produce some tremendous college QBs..
You can't see that, you can't be helped. You just can't.
No blood vessels bursting here, not worth it.. and too tired.. but lol man..
This almost feels like debating a liberal with a conservative.

I don't know but I was on the thread that got whacked at 3:00 am this morning and it was the most enjoyable thing I've done at 3:00 am in a long time

FSU has struggled to beat inferior opponents as well. That is not just an LSU thing....
Posted on 11/23/15 at 9:31 am to ShreveportLSU
Jimbo isn't the greatest offensive coach. He gets real conservative real fast with a 10-point lead which usually leads to a nail-biter at the end of the game (which is every game for FSU).
Posted on 11/23/15 at 9:34 am to ShreveportLSU
Jimbo is certainly not at the top of my list.
LSU has the right offense for the talent that we have.....we just have the wrong type of QB.
LSU could have a GREAT offense with a pro style game manager that could pick up the third and 7 first down...keep the clock moving, and wear down the opposing offense. We don't have a QB that can complete the short pass...so we are left with long play home run plays...hit or miss.....we don't need great at Qb...we just need someone that is smart and that can complete a short pass in stride with the receiver. I assure you that if we had that, this season would have turned out much differently.
If Jimbo does come, hopefully he can manage that part of the game much, much better...which means recruiting the RIGHT type of QB for the offense, and using him appropriately.

Yeah, you aren't an LSU fan.
Your opinion should be heavily discounted then.

And yet it's totally acceptable he has a loss.. and only a first year coach.
I will gladly bet you Jimbo has more success over the next 5 seasons than Herman.
So many times we see these up and comers fail. Fuente (sp) of Memphis was all the rage with Herman.. and even with his beast of a QB has now dropped 3 games.. in the same little boy conference.
Jimbo is not a hot name. Jimbo is a NC coach, proven to put players in the NFL and win bowl games, and compete for championships.
LOL it's so silly you can't see it's an upgrade over Miles.
Miles was hardly a .500 coach at OSU.. he inherited a tremendous amount of talent and LSU.. and even he had success at LSU.. Miles doesn't even have a niche.. He's an o-line coach.. He's not some defensive guru coach who hires a good OC.. He's not a QB guru coach who hires a good DC.. He's a stubborn coach who doesn't have his team prepared to be competitive any more

So are you saying I can't be helped?
If Jimbo were half the coach you think he is and actually wanted to leave, the would have already been hired away from FSU. Funny you compare me to a liberal, cause I'm getting that same feeling about you guys. Whole lot of "just trust me, I think things will be better if we just ignore all those facts and focus on the ones we like."

Not only that, but we'll get a few nice offseason controversies to boot.
yeah, cause nothing EVER happens in the offseason under Miles.

Functional brain and his name is not Leslie Miles.

Herman has coached under Urban, he has been a big time recruiter, he has coached up his quarterbacks, and he has proven he can win at a shite school such as Houston.
I would hope Jimbo has more success he is at Florida State where the name alone lands him 4* players routinely.

I agree with this to an extent. It still never seemed like it was ever quite the stress of Miles.
Any ways, to compare him to Miles is silly. They aren't the same and he's 50.
It is at worse a "safe" hire.. and at best "the sky is limit" You have to understand LSU has 2 bowl wins in 6 years, LSU is losing 3 games on average for 2 years, 5 games last season, and who knows how many this year. . yet they continue to put tremendous talent to the NFL.. With the given recruiting class and still a top tier program it would be wise to get a guy like Jimbo. I don't see recruits leaving with a change like that.. I actually would see the class getting better.
Posted on 11/23/15 at 9:41 am to beauchristopher
Jimbo may be a "safe" hire but I doubt he is the homerun people want. I think he would be a lot like Miles in winning 10+ year but finishing 2nd or 3rd most of the time. Then he will strike gold one year win it all and go back before eventually over staying his welcome according to Tiger fans

Chip Kelly seems like more a stubborn coach, no?
Again, what I like most about Jimbo is he does it on pure pro-Qb style talent. Winston and Russell were pocket passers. Even EJ Manuel didn't run that much. They have a great understanding of the offense and are in complete control. And it's a thing of beauty. It would be nice to see at LSU. That alone would be an upgrade at LSU.

And he still lost 11 games in the first five years, because the conference was dog shite. That was the point. If he's in the SEC west with that same team, he might have won it once if at all.
You guys are getting way too defensive to see my point. Jimbo to LSU is probably the best hire we could hope for, and I'd be pretty happy with it. Unfortunately that probably still translates to 3rd in the west and a lot of fans still chasing Saban's ghost.

If Jimbo wouldn't be considered a homerun, I'm not sure one exists that is a viable option.
I'm not saying he'll come in and never lose a game, because nobody could do that. I just think he has the potential plus the actual on-field achievements. Herman may end up being an all-star, but when you're dropping the best we've ever had, I don't think you can go for potential alone.
