Since 1893. LSU's winning history

Since 1893 only 14 LSU teams have won 10 or more games. 7 of those 10 win seasons have come while Les Miles was head coach.

So?
The talent in Louisiana high schools grew in the late 90s and it started staying in state.. LSU doesn't have any in state schools to compete for this talent.
So tired of hearing about bad LSU was all these years. LSU will be fine post Miles, just as they were post Saban

Neither does Arkansas. But now they have Bielema.

still have to go get the talent. Les is pretty good at that. Despite what people think, kids like him.

The fact is not just anyone could do this. We were lucky after Saban left that we got another good coach. And hopefully we are lucky again whatever the outcome is. One day Les won't be the coach, hopefully we are smart about who we hire when that day comes.

Miles is not that extraordinary of a coach that LSU can't win without him.
I have been a huge Miles supporter and afraid of the idea of him being gone, but since the Ole Miss game a couple years ago.. I started changing my mind.. There's a really mediocre trend happening and I don't care for it.. Miles is 2-4 over the last 6 bowl games as well and that most recent bowl win was an ugly 21-14 with over Iowa..
It's just not even fun any more, not even competitive in the losses.. and no more dominating inferior opponents.
I think it's silly for LSU fans to bring up the ugly days in fears of a different direction.. Miles (a decent coach) was able to maintain LSU as a good program.. then I believe another can and will as well. He is losing intensity.

Umm yeah maybe look at when we actually started playing 10 or more games. That'll cut your years way down there guy.

I'm sick of this reasoning. LSU didn't play but 10 games a year all the way thru the 1960's. The 70's and 80's brought 11-12 game schedules. Once the divisions were created in the SEC, 14 game seasons became possible. Much, much easier to win 10 outa 14 brah

Easier to do in 13 & 14 game seasons. People who point this out forget that seasons were 10 games back in the day with the eleventh being the bowl. Winning 10 in 1968 was far better than winning 10 in 2009.

Since 1893, only 13 LSU teams have played 13 or more games in one season. Saban teams did it three times (14 in 03's natty year). Excluding this year's, as yet, unfinished season, all 10 of Miles' previous teams have played at least 13 games, including 14 in 07 and 11. A lot of nine-win seasons in years past would have been 10-win years if LSU had played 13 games.

That's awesome if you're all about 10 win seasons and not about winning championships.

did they play 13 games back then, as well?

a 13 game season, which is virtually guaranteed for LSU, 10 wins equates to 77% winning percentage. Given that 3 (or as many as 4) of these each year are (or should be if we did not play down to the competition) are cupcakes, that means you are probably in the .500-.600 range in games that are reasonably competitive. Sorry, Charlie.

The first year for 12 games was 1970. From 1970 to 2000 they won 9 games 8 times. There is no guarantee that they would have won that 10th game if they played 1 more. So for 30 years they had an opportunity to win 10 games only 8 times.

Great history. What about the future now? Do you make decisions in life based on what you think might happen?
Michael Jordan once scored 63 points in a playoff game. How many players have done that? Should he get signed based on that?

What about the future? Any word on that? Any guesses?
