Had Brunch at Brennan's

It was okay. I enjoyed being there and enjoyed the atmosphere. Service started out great, but then we were sort of abandoned by our waiter and a manager walked by and finally took over some of what we needed like ordering dessert and then trying to get the check. That was a bit disappointing as we needed to move things along.
What was funny is after that was said and done with all the waiting to get dessert and the check, the waiter came back and gave us his card and told us he knew we had our people, but if he could do anything for us to call him first. He wrote his cell on the card.
I had eggs benedict and there was nothing special about the dish. The yolk was a bit overcooked, but it was good, though no different from other good versions. The homemade English muffin had zero crispiness and wasn't toasted at all which I prefer, so it was uninteresting. The cheddar grits, however, were delicious, and I loved my app.
The app was blue crab remoulade with shaved jicama, avocado and mango vinaigrette. The presentation was really neat with the shaved jicama slices on top and on the bottom. There was a variety of crabmeat such as claw meat intact and some jumbo lump. I really enjoyed it.
The others had gumbo and turtle soup. Nothing much exciting. They thought the dishes were very good, but not standout.
Their entrees were pork grillades with grits. I tasted that and it was good but not great other than the grits and I believe the other entree was a shrimp salad. It has hearts of palm, avocado and radish, I think. It was your basic good shrimp salad.
The Leidenheimer bread pudding was quite good. Not as heavy as other bread puddings. I enjoyed the few bites I had.
I don't have a hankering to return, but I'd go back for dinner to try it. I didn't notice much uniqueness on the menu. My Mom asked the waiter about the dinner menu and he offered to bring her one to peruse, but after asking him two more times for it, he never fulfilled.

I must have had the same waiter when I went cause he did the same thing with me. Was it some super French name?

First name was Peter. I'll have to find the card for the last.
Only 1 pic because turtle soup and gumbo looked like turtle soup and gumbo. Same with the eggs benedict. I I think I have a pic of the bread pudding and maybe the salad and grillades, but they weren't very unique pics.

We went somewhat recently and had a great experience. I honestly wasn't excited about going but our friends made the reservations. I had the eggs cardinal which was great. I remember having a similar experience with regards to service. Our waitress was ok but we really got the most help from one of the managers (I'm guessing that was his position). I think someone had the grits and grillades and I can't remember what else. Oh yeah, the cocktails were pretty solid too. I thought overall it was a huge improvement to what it used to be and I wouldn't hesitate going again.

They should be at a point where service should roll along smoothly.. It sounds like there was a problem with the waiter.. Maybe a bad day? The English Muffin would've disappointed me. Hope they can pull it together. Thanks for the review.

Almost ordered that, but it had been so long since I've had eggs benedict that I went with that. I remember thinking I should have gotten something a bit more interesting than just the eggs benedict, but that's what my tastebuds desired. They could have been better, though I neglected to mention that the canadian bacon was pan sauteed with some nice caramelization.
The waiter didn't seem to be having a bad day. We'd see him chatting with other waiters, but just not in a spot in which we could get his attention. Didn't appear to be work chat. Took a while to get a second drink, as well. I had a Ramos gin fizz, which was pretty good, not the best I've had, but good enough. The gin bloody mary I had was delicious, though.
We didn't think the bill was unreasonable for the 3 of us. We each had 2 drinks, apps, entrees, 2 desserts and one specialty coffee for $200 with tax and before tip. I think there were some two course meal specials, but I don't recall the cost. I believe I may have been the only one who didn't get the 2 course special because the crab app wasn't an option.

Foie gras app was very good, I believe it was a special. Roasted oysters were small and meh. Had the Mahi Mahi for my entree, it was undercooked and cold. Was suppose to have jumbo lump crab meat on top but it was serious lacking in quality. I chose poorly with my entree. Banana Foster was great as usual. Service was good.
