Just passing along their new hours are Thurs-Sun 9-5. They used to be open tues and weds too. I see posts every now and then of folks asking about this range.

Honey Island is hands down better but Tallow Creek is so close I use it when I just need to zero in the deer rifle.

Heard that place was a total shite show. Looked at some reviews online and corroborated what I heard.

It is. A few posters work at Honey Island in their off time. It's my favorite place to go

lots of customers tell me its an absolute shithole...almost like a junkyard. i havent been to honey island

id rather drive the 40 miles to Fuselier Complex in Arnaudville. private range with no retards, meticulously well-kept, and im usually the only one out there in the mornings when i go

Total shite show is an understatement. Facility is garbage. You need a 4wd truck just to get down the road. The range is all kinds of messed up. It's hard to find a target stand you can use that isn't shot to crap. Most of the people I have seen there are unsafe as they come, and the rangemaster rarely steps in to stop them. It's WAY over priced.

If somebody would take it over and do a total remodel it could be really nice. Until that happens stay away from there.

This is why I haven't gone to honey island. Do lots of barricade shooting and mobile drills and I would get shredded. No thanks

its been a while since i was last there w/ f n law. there was one thing he got harped on for something, and then we were ready to leave at another point and we were held hostage until something else ended, not sure... i mean i know rules are strictly for safety precautions but damn, its like you can't scratch your arse over there and not feel like you're doing something wrong. Its a nice place and very cheap so.... not trying to dog them but its a bit overzealous at times

Eh, some of it is a little overbearing, but I'll take it if I can be assured the asshat shooting the 50 cal at 25 yards next to me won't muzzle sweep the entire line. I completely understand the need to have standards because you have all different types of people with all different types of experience out there

I agree it is a joke and a mess. I avoid it when I can. $10 per hour! But it's too convenient at 5 mins away. I pop one round at 100 yds with my rifles and back home knowing I'm on target for the deer stand.

I am usually in and out in 15 mins. It serves its purpose for me once per year.

That place will have to elevate to be called "shithole".

Why hasn't somebody on the northshore opened up a nice range is beyond me. I would love it if there was a private members range similar to the fusilier or long range alley.

Screw Tallow Creek. Last time out there the range guy tried to tell me I had been there for 3 hours and charge me accordingly but I had only been there 55 minutes. He called me a liar and I showed him proof that an hour and 45 minutes prior I had texted my buddy that I was pulling up at academy to grab some targets. Which he then said was fake. I didn't pay for 3 hours and I'll never go back.

I only work one 4 or 5 hour shift per month(depending on season) so I can't say it doesn't happen, but I've never witnessed it.

We politely ask that people stay until the next cold so they can retrieve their targets but I've never seen anyone force someone to stay. Now, if the line is cold and you want to leave but haven't packed up your guns (this sounds to me like the reason you were stuck waiting), we won't let you go because we can't have anyone touching firearms or ammo while the line is cold even if they're just packing up and not on the shooting bench. No exceptions!

I do admit some of the older fellas can get a little crotchety and yes, some of them are retired military who like to feel in control however, we're all out there for one reason, and one reason alone... To make sure you, the man next to you and also myself go home with the same number of holes in your body that you walked in with. You'd jump a person's arse too if you've been muzzle swept multiple times even after telling them something about it, wouldn't you?

It's all in the name of safety...

Also, if you don't like dealing with all the "strictness" or yahoos on the weekends and have a day off during the week that you'd like to go, hit me up and if I'm off also, I'll gladly bring you out there while the range is closed to the public. Perk of being a Range Safety Officer. CDANIEL985@GMAIL.COM

Unfortunately our range just isn't designed for that style of shooting.

But we'd be glad to have you out if you're ever in the mood for some bench shooting, pistol plates, skeet and/or reactionary rimfire target shooting.

Oh! We also have an archery range now for those of you interested.
