I realized that pretty much the main reason I carry cash these days is for tipping.

After fraudulent activity by employees of 2 different Baton Rouge establishments, I started avoiding leaving a tip on the card. I also always write the words "zero-cash tip" in the tip blank (just writing an "O" can be altered to a number). I always leave a cash tip, and try to hand it directly to them as well. Too much tip thievery afoot.

What are some of your opinions / habits when it comes to tipping? Not asking amounts, percentages, or whether you tip for to go orders, that's beyond Germans ... it's Nazi.

What are your habits as to method of payment? Card v. Cash?

I always leave cash as a courtesy to the waiter/waitress...it's up to them if they want to report that income or not

I pay taxes, they can pay taxes, I leave it on the card and take a picture of the signed receipt with my phone, never had any problems

If I pay with a card I tip on the card. If I pay with cash, I leave a cash tip.

Pretty simple, really.

On the extremely rare instance where I pay with card and leave a cash tip (usually someone else is picking up the tip if I've picked up the meal) then I'll write 'cash' in the tip line.

I try and give cash if I have it so they can scam something from Uncle Sam, but otherwise it's CC. I've never had a problem with additional stuff being added to my CC tips.

Tip with cash anytime we have it, but I'd say it's 50-50 in regards to how often that is.

This is a bit odd. Do you check your bank statement every so many days so that you can delete your receipt photos from your phone memory?

90% of the time I out the tip on the CC. Just adds to the rewards points.
If I happen to know the server, I sometimes leave cash to help them out

I don't use cash for anything so all tips are on a card. I've never had any fraudulent activity related to tips on my card.

When I was a waiter in college, I generally preferred cash tips because I got to walk home with money at the end of the night, as all my credit card tips were paid on my paycheck.

That being said, I usually tip on my credit card because I don't carry much cash on me.

I use the null set symbol instead of a zero.

I frequently use a CC to pay the bill and hand the server cash for the tip.
