At the risk of offending, cremation is a lot more dignified than burial, and

you're not a made a nuisance for all time by taking up valuable real estate space.
Admittedly, ground burial can be somewhat artistic even while a bit irresponsible, but internment in one of those popular tenement-style mausoleum drawers is downright grotesque.
I'm not saying all this just to be mean... but to gracefully improve the future aesthetics of our country and planet.

Graveyards have great historical and even genealogical significance. Your opinion is quite ignorant.

i made the decision to be cremated a long time ago but for none of the reasons you mention.

Just move the headstones, not the bodies.

You're right.

Dammit, I was leaning towards cremation. Thanks for ruining it for me.

I understand we put chemicals into the body, but they still decompose and provide nutrients to plants and various other plant life, whereas burning the body takes a high degree of heat which doesn't magically just appear, it has to be transformed from another energy source.

I don't understand how you still have posting privileges.

When I suggested that we cremate my dad, my stepmother told me that he'd go to hell if she did that. I chuckled and walked out of the room.

One leaky roof away from filling up with water. I don't like these at all.

Rex, if you can walk through Hollywood Cemetery and honestly tell me any man wouldn't be proud to be buried there, you are worse off than I thought.

I want to be cremated. I figure as long as my soul is going to burn, might as well burn my body.

I tend to agree with you on this. Large cemetery like rest haven in Baton Rouge are a huge waste of space.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate old ones like highland cemetery right near lsu. But to think that someone will be taking care of a place like rest haven for eternity, long after anyone cares about 99.999% of the people in there is absurd to me. I told my wife I want to be buried in a wooden box on family property with a live oak planted over me.
