Am I correct in assuming that most chili enthusiasts like their chili without beans?

Anyone have any good beanless recipes?

Why would someone prefer chili sans beans?

I like red or black beans in my chili. Grew up eating it that way so always make it with beans.

Wrongo! Also, chili with beans should be served over rice.

Better off adding an imperial porter.

And the bean debate is always a fun one. Same with ground meat.

Mexene is the best chili ingredient, IMO.

Got a couple pounds of roasted Hatch peppers waiting for the first cold weekend

I try to use all peppers, no powders, no beans, lil chocolate, some beer, types of meat vary

All I've ever used and all my mother used and she cooked a great chili. Get the meat chili grind which is a coarse grind.

I got second place in a chili cook off in Snowmass circa 1986 with Mexine, coarse grind meat and canned red kidney beans. I use a lot more than it recommends and I use the recipe on the back of the jar.

I like beans because I make chili to last several days or for a large group of people and beans make a good filler.

I make chili about four different ways, only one of them is without beans. It's the one that starts with cubed beef, and I know some people here don't like that.

This, give or take:

Me too, Salmon. I always make a big pot and pass some on to my neighbors and still have enough to eat on for a few days.

What is chili?

an American dish?

if so (and I think so), there is no definitive recipe.
