im saying i doubt you knew what our coverage teams looked like in June when he left.
At this point he may have been our best ST player for all I can tell.
He may turn out good, but all indicators seem to point towards a kid that wasn't nearly as talented as we thought AND he didn't want to work hard.

because we all know JUCO teams keep great stats.
Standout in his first 2 games to not recording a tackle in the next 4. Makes sense.
So here you are saying the stats are garbage then cite the stats as evidence?

I dont know if they were content or not with letting him go, that is my point.
maybe they kicked him out of the door. Maybe he wanted to get out of BR, and they couldn't keep him from doing that. Who knows.
It just seems like he didnt get off to a great start here. He came still rehabbing a torn labrum, yes, he wasnt in great shape, yes he was buried on the depth chart. But those type of things can snoball for a freshman from a different part of the country.

no doofus, im saying there is a clear discrepancy between the games listed as played and the games he actually played. If you would have taken the time to look it was right there.

I've refrained from these comments. We don't know what they thought, but I know they never spoke too highly of him either. Plenty of chances to point out player development, and Les generally will do so when deserved.

Was it Saban's first year?

So how do you know which is right and which is wrong? This is my point. You cant just say the stats are garbage then cherry pick the stats you want to use because you feel like they might be right while the others are wrong.
Fact is he wasn't high up on his junior college team among LBs. He has 2 LBs on his team going to P5 schools, meanwhile he's headed to UAB.
Once again, puzzle pieces and such...

Depth. Beckwith could use a break now and then.

Makes sense, guess I misinterpreted your posts. I read it as Garrett should have overtaken Beckwith as starter.
I see what you're saying, but we really have no idea how Garrett would have turned out this year if he stayed.

Because his stats from the first 2 game logs add up to his season totals that they claim for 6 games. shite dude.
What do you think happened? He got benched after leading the team in tackles the first 2 games? With 4 TFL, 2FF and a sack? Just curious. What do you think happened?

Yeah, outside of an injury, the only explanation I could have is that he was a mess in some other phase (positioning, coverage, penalties, IDK)

it was well documented that he had lost 15lbs coming into this season. And he took ownership of being fat and out of shape as a FR. Google it, i found at least 2 articles. Went from 248 to 232. So obv he was trying

I assumed it was common knowledge he was shown the door. He was already enrolled for the summer and left after the usual post-spring player meetings. Explains a lot of your stance in this thread.

So you're saying it wasn't work ethic, but talent, right?
j/k, I get your points. I think the answer is somewhere in the middle, but we really won't ever know anyway.

what if he would have picked Auburn?
Then I would have thought maybe this place was just a bad situation for him. Its no different than recruiting when you have a guy who has an offer from every big time program vs a guy who has a bunch of mid majors and one big team.

It was the Juco site, and it showed him participating in 3 games, not 2. that was my fault.

The answer lies somewhere in here.
So..... how ARE we positioned next year at LB? Seems like our stars this year are either seniors or juniors heading to the draft.
Who are our starting MLB, ILB, and OLB next year?
Posted on 10/26/15 at 4:26 pm to thunderbird1100
Fiest seems to make a ton of tackles in spring games, I wonder what's the deal with him.
Posted on 10/26/15 at 4:48 pm to I20goon
Most high school players would see an LSU offer as an opportunity to play at a high level. A rational person would increase the workouts in a manner suggested by the coaches at LSU prior to coming in as a freshman. If you double down on the commitment and work, and put in the extra time to succeed in the classroom, you can either play professionally or have an educational and disciplinary foundation to do other things well.
Or you can choose not to. My suspicion is that Garrett chose a different path, which very quickly led to the exit.
