LSU OL

Looking back at the 2011 NC game vs. Bama, I learned two things:
(1) LSU's defense was better than Bama's that year
(2) Alabama's OL was much better than LSU's that year.
McCarron was better than Jefferson, but the Bama OL helped him much more than the LSU OL helped Jefferson.
This year, it's a slightly different story...
ESPN Mid Season All-SEC ...
OL Vadal Alexander, LSU: He's one of the nation's best tackles and easily could have left for the NFL draft before the season. He has been an absolute beast for the Tigers this year.
OL Fahn Cooper, Ole Miss: In place of the suspended Laremy Tunsil, Cooper has more than held his own so far at left tackle for the Rebels, and will be even better with Tunsil back.
OL Sebastian Tretola, Arkansas: He's just a monster inside and has been a big reason for Arkansas' success running through the middle of the field.
OL Greg Pyke, Georgia: One of the SEC's best big men, Pyke has been great inside for the Bulldogs and has helped create many a hole up front for Bulldogs backs.
C Ethan Pocic, LSU: Before this weekend's win over Florida, Pocic was credited with a team-high 63 knockdowns and had been the SEC lineman of the week twice.
____
2 on the OL for LSU; 0 for Bama.
I think having Kevin Steele is another advantage for LSU as he knows the Bama players well.
I'm feeling optimistic!

LSU/Alabama has always come down to the trenches
I think LSU has an advantage on both sides this year.

Offense maybe. Defense, no. The Bama front 7 (especially the DL) is very good.

Ehh... I think our D line has improved tremendously so far this season, and will continue to do so! BUT, Bama's front 7 is nasty. O line there is no question, we have the better unit. So those factors will make the match up in the trenches VERY interesting this year!

But or defense line is not going against their defensive line

That's my point.
LSU's DL > Alabama's OL
LSU's OL > Alabama's DL

But we have Lewis Neal

I knew what you were talking about. The media is so fixated on how good bama's front 7 are (and they are very good) that they tend to forget we have a nasty OL that is pretty damn good and has been dominant.

0 sacks on Saturday. They are just getting better in all phases. Def the best oline Miles has had.

Does someone have the running total on SEC OLinemen of the week awards our guys have got?
Pocic has won it once or twice, same with Alexander

LSU's OL > Alabama's DL
Key matchup. If this holds true, LSU will leave BDS with another W and the rip the heart right out of the Gumps.

It helps that Harris has the legs to run the ball when in trouble. I think Fournette still gets 100+ yards rushing but Harris's throws make the difference in the BAMA game. I look forward to the OL continuing to give BH time to throw AND space for Fournette to run.

How much does Bama rotate or sub in their front 7?
Since Bama's DL and LB's are typically on the heavy side, and if we can win TOP sufficiently, it would bode well for us in the second half. Especially with Guice and Williams as change of pace backs and fresh legs.
