The bright side is that they won't have to trade just to trade. They can go after a big time closer and maybe another top setup man. Makes the prospect development pay off for a contender.

Our current core is very exciting. Luhnow's plan has started to bear fruit. I believe that when the pieces are shuffled and added and subtracted this offseason, we will be in a very good place. Whether some people will admit that, well... that's another story

our lineup is exciting as hell. of course it sucks to lose but we were supposed to be 3 years out. correa is a freakin monster and springer made strides. we are 2 bullpen pitchers away from world series caliber

What would I do?

1.trade gattis as he is my least favorite astro by fricking far
2.get high end lower closer move gregerson to set up man
3.move tucker to everyday DH
4. Get a number 1b starter
5. Trade for corner bat
6. Sign Chris Davis for 1st.

1st-Davis
2nd-JA
Ss-the legend
3rd-Moran
Lf-trade bat/rasmus
Cf-gomez
Rf-George
Dh-tucker

What the Astros will do?

Add an unproven power pitcher and move him to closer.

Sign a stop gap bat

Moran will probably spend the whole year in AAA unless he tears it up. He spent a year and a half at AA I don't think is in the immediate future.

I don't either. But in my plan, we wouldn't have the money to spend on a free agent 3rd. If Moran can play solid d, all sources day he does, than I'm okay with it. I'm also good with valbuano coming back for cheap. I think his arbitration cost will be higher than he is worth.

The maturation of LMJ is also a huge factor. If he can learn to settle down earlier in games his potential is very high.

McCullers is 21st in the MLB in ERA and 24th in FIP for pitchers with at least 120 innings. I'd say he's already delivered on his potential. If he gets much better he will be elite.

Davis as a LF/DH/1B would not be a bad signing if 3B, 1B and DH were otherwise occupied by players who are good contact hitters with high OBP.

That's pretty much what I mean, with the addition of him improving his efficiency early in game to be able to go 7+ innings more consistently. That's what would put him over the top imo.

List of players who can piss off:
Carter
Castro
Gattis
Lowrie
Harris
Perez
Neshek
Qualls
Missing anyone?

You guys need to get realistic.Harris, Gattis, Lowrie, Neshak and Fields all performed well this season. They are all a huge reason why the team even made the playoffs. They deserve to be back. Unfortunately, they hit a wall at the back end of the season.

Luhnow is not going to be able to sign 25 players from the all-star team.

Hell, Gattis has 3 years in the majors, and a huge portion of that was on the DL. I see his future as being a pretty big part of the lineup. Lowrie never fully recovered from his injury, but he is signed to a team friendly contract and will be back. Neshak got over used and got tired. If the Astros get a top line closer and move gregs to the 8th and Neshak to the 7th... It will reduce his inning enough to keep him effective later into the year.

They need another lefty in the pen. Perez was a mistake and Luhnow needs to own it.
Gomez and Valbuena should be traded... Probably to the Padres. Carter should be gone. I think Fiers will be depth to start the season.

A lot of big name SP are free agents this year. I hope Luhnow stays away from all of them. Save the money for Springer and Correa.

It was in the heat of the moment, and as close to a melt you'll get from me. It was more tongue-in-cheek.

We didn't get this far without everyone's help, but certain guys need to go.

I agree. Gomez doesn't NEED to go, but he is on a trade friendly contract and no matter what I don't see him being re-signed past his current contract with the Astros. That has trade written all over it to me if it can bring in a top of the line closer.

Yeah, I just read this thread. A lot of people are saying the same things.

No one is recognizing the fact that the Astros are a seriously young and inexperienced team. They performed above expectations. Yet for some reason many people want to get rid of some of the better performers.

Makes no sense.

There are holes to fill. But not a team overhaul. And please, a giant HELL NO to Chris Davis.this team just went head to head with the #1 seed in the AL... And they were overwhelmed in the final game. The first four games they held their own.

I'm excited for next year. The AL west is going to be the toughest division in baseball.

I hope Gomez stays, unless Marisnick can figure out how to hit consistently.

Hopefully next year all of our studs can make it through a whole season healthy. Springer would be a top 25 WAR player if he played 150 games.

I think they resign rasmus. rasmus, Gomez, Marisnick,Springer,Tucker

then they keep one of Gattis/Carter, both is overkill

Tucker gets more DH time

Find a legit closer
