Kids that have things to do (job, chores, hobbies, organized sports, etc) tend to get in trouble less often and to a lesser severity than those who don't.

It's pretty stupid.

Kids who spend time outdoors with their responsible parents don't commit crime. But lots of trashy people, including criminals, fish and hunt.

Kids who play golf don't deal and steal probably rings more true.

I find that those bumper stickers are the perfect compliment for a set of truck nutz.

It is an example of subtle racism

well I know someone who is banned from entering any Walmart ever again because twice he stole fishing lures.

that pretty much pokes a hole in that theory right there

Kids who play golf don't go to jail for dealing and stealing is even more true.

Kids who have parents who spend time with them and participate in activities with them generally turn out better than those who don't. Whether it's hunting and fishing, bug collecting, sailing or whatever. So yea, it has some truth to it although there are certainly exceptions.

I usually don't like to infer racism, but I have to agree.

Similar bumper stickers were part of Austin Daniel's campaign for Sheriff(west feliciana) a decade or so ago.
The slogan is in alignment with "idle mind is a dangerous thing" aka "keep kids active and interested in positive shite and they won't get into as much trouble".

I'd bet most kids in Livingston Parish hunt and fish.
