It's only a matter of time. I think this may cost us a close game this year

I agree. We can't cover for shite. We'll get hosed if it's not fixed.

With our offensive philosophy the punt game is critical to ice games. Specifically in that situation (this year and last) it has failed miserably. In a system & conference where on loss is the difference between playoffs or not, can not afford this.

Coverage is pitiful. I see opposing teams with blockers looking for someone to put a hat on 3sec after catching the ball, and not finding anyone. Blockers 5-7 yards ahead of returner at the 15 yards up from where caught.

Not sure why this is happening. But damn, we got speed. Use it. If they are picking lines to draw quit it! It's safer but it's obviously no working. Let the speed guys loose and disrupt some shite. If one blocker whiffs and another chases the speed guy, guess what there are now 2 unblocked guys that held the line to make the tackle.

"unfairly" focusing on punting.....
Yr / Rtn Yds per Gm / TD given up
-----------------------------
2011 / 3.65 / 0
2012 / 3.47 / 0
2013 / 3.13 / 0
2014 / 9.14 / 1
2015 / 23.0 / 0 (through 3 games)

Might not have had a drop off exactly coinciding with BDP coming on board, but there is a drop off in performance.

Coverage is a problem. The punter is a problem. You don't get much return yardage or risk a TD if the guy fair catches. It's about placement not yardage. Note that the offensive production is a factor in that placement.

Oh, Syracuse had 7 all kick returns for 176 yds, which is more than they had rushing (127) or passing (154).
