This is very well put. You won't be buying the soundtrack but it accomplishes what it sets out to do incredibly well.
I do however have a couple of jóhann jóhannsson's full length albums that are just gorgeous for those who might want to check him out.

Just saw. Loved it, favorite movie of the year. It was like a blend of everything I like.
Wish there was more of it

Very entertaining, solid movie. Benicio Del Toro killed it.

And apparently a sequel is in the works, focusing on Del Toro's character.

Del Toro's character reminded me a little of Keyser Soze.
**Spoilers**
What was the point of going in the tunnel, though? And why did del Toro go down (and how did he know to go down) the alternate tunnel? Couldn't he have simply gotten in a random cop car and gone after the target? I don't understand the point of the whole tunnel thing.
That's probably a dumb question, but it just didn't make sense to me.

they needed to get him across the border and back without anyone really knowing and they wanted to also disrupt their operations

I mean, they had him in Mexico before, no problem. Also had assistance of Mexican police. . . And del Toro just happened, coincidentally, to go down a side tunnel, find a police car, then pursue the target who happened to be nearby and leaving his home at the same time?
I won't keep harping on it. It may all make sense. Just seemed a little far-fetched to me.

i honestly dont understand what you have a problem with

My thought was that he wasn't associated, couldn't be associated, with the US government. They couldn't just send SFOD-D and him to his house in Mexico and he probably couldn't gain access without some sort of entry ruse because otherwise he'd get tipped off.

Guess I'll have to go see it

MASSIVE frickING SPOILERS TO ANSWER PATRICK BATEMAN'S QUESTION:
This was all explained in the movie. The tunnel mission was a ruse with a good excuse for a domestic agency (the FBI) to be involved: a drug sting. In reality, they found out a time when a shipment was leaving Mexico and set up the sting so that Del Toro could capture and use the police mule to drive into Mexico unmolested, pull the lieutenant who was running shite in the US over (they had been tracking him via satellite since he was recalled to Mexico as a result of their previous actions), and use the lieutenant as a means of ingress into the druglord compound.
Meanwhile, the FBI was supposed to go with the Delta team and be a part of the tunnel operation, but Blunts character noticed del Toro going off on his own.
There was no coincidence involved at all. That was the whole point of the movie.

Thanks for the reply. I get it for the most part.

I'm not gonna lie, I thought she would have a bigger role. I was definitely surprised by the second half of the movie.
She is in like 85% of the movie
Just got out.... Holy shite... I was not even that invested in the plot but it still had me by the balls like no other movie before. That movie just takes you to a dark place and keeps dragging you deeper.
Emily blunt was outstanding, the score was perfect and it looked amazing.

The acting, cinematography and score are definitely the strong points of the movie, but just a tip of the hat to the writer. He has created a mesmerizing character with Del Toro's Alejandro.
Props to Sons of Anarchy actor Taylor Sheridan.

So, that was fantastic.
The whole movie I kept trying to remember where the heck I knew Kate's partner from. I Googled it and he's the guy who played Bing from the "Black Mirror" episode "15 Million Merits".
I love that guy.
And John Bernthal still can't do a southern accent to save his life.

Del Toro is one of those guys who seems to have a limited range of roles he can do but he does those roles at an Oscar level.

I just watched it last night. I thought it was very good, but just a level below greatness. I really liked Emily Blunt in this one.

Hopefully a prequel instead of a sequel.

I can't wait for the new Blade Runner movie. I don't even care that they're probably going to make Deckard a replicant.
Deakins + Villenuve + Gosling + sprinkle of PKD =
All it's missing is Vangelis, or maybe M83 (band who scored Oblivion).
And Jake.
