A fan tweet to a National Sports Reporter and ask him to fix his Saints.....and he replied we are likely seeing the end of the Loomis Payton Brees Era....

The Saints are starting out 0-2 for the third time in four years. Some big changes are coming soon for the better...

I think he is right and I'm not gonna be extremely upset about it.
They did more for the city and state than anyone could imagine but all good things come to an end.

Wilbon and Kornheiser both said that a regime change is coming to the Saints at years end. Take it for what it's worth.

Ok, but he didn't answer the question....

We need more threads on this subject.
I mean who knew it would end?

The only thing that could be disturbing to me would be the Saints relocating. The Brees/Payton era is/was awesome. When it's time to move on I'll excepted it, I'm still a Saints fan and we won a damn Super Bowl. It's still unreal to say it.

exactly how i feel... in my lifetime i've seen LSU and the Saints win a championship... that's something most of us only dreamed of before it actually happened...

I'm fine with the end of Payton/Loomis

You really like what you've seen from him lately?

of course not, but he's won too much in the past to just dump.
It's so hard to find a good coach these days. I mean, just before last year, you would find Payton in most top 5 NFL coaches lists, and it had been that way for 5-6 years. Is he not that same guy?
some personnel stuff and bad drafts have let the team get away from what they were, but it really doesn't change the on field stuff. Hiring Ireland is a nice start, at least he admits there might be a problem with the drafts. Firing Rob Ryan needs to be next, and a few of his other "buddies".
Ideally id like to see them add some actual weapons at WR, shore up the OL, and continue to build the defense. I would love for Payton to over see that. The question becomes, does he want to move on to something new? He'll find a job pretty easily if so.
You don't see the pattern with continually bad teams hiring new coaches every 3-4 years? shite, not just in NFL, but all sports. I dont see why people want to rush and do that. So reactionary. Payton is a proven winner.

I wish this team could be like the Patriots last seasom and use the negative talk as motivation and make a run. All through the media were talks of the Patriots being done, a Brady being done. That fired them up and they went on a spree of kicking arse. Sadly I don't see that kind of fire with this team, just hoping they prove me wrong. Brady, Rodgers, Peyton... They don't miss the playoffs. Must be nice never having to witness bullshite like we have witnessed 3 of the last 4 seasons.

I appreciate your practical outlook on Payton, Lester. It's not common on ST.
That being said, I do feel like he needs some help at the OC level and possibly from a more hands-on GM, not just the gap/numbers guru Loomis.

the key to a successful franchise is QB play, and when we lose Brees, Payton is going to be pretty important in that phase. Whether it be with Grayson or someone else.
I sure don't want to be searching for a new QB AND a new coach(who won't be as QB-friendly as Payton, more than likely). THat could be something we may no rebound from for a while. Like I said though, will Payton want to bail after 2017 since Brees likely wont be here. Or will he want to stay and fight.

The Patriots had good players, we don't.
