This is a 30 for 30 film that college football fans have been waiting for. ESPN announced Wednesday that the Pete Carroll era of USC football will be the subject of a 30 for 30 documentary this fall.
“Trojan War,” directed by USC graduate and USC school of Cinematic Arts adjunct professor Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, is set to premiere at 6 p.m. PDT Oct. 13.
The film will cover Carroll’s nine seasons at USC and will include interviews with Carroll and former quarterback Matt Leinart.

What if I told you that "the best team in the land" always lost to an unranked.
Why if I told you "the best team in the land" had 1 title in 9 years.
What if I told you that 1 title was stripped.

What if I told you 1 shared championship was considered a dynasty?

I'm not a USC fan, so I'll wait for them to defend themselves.

So it's gonna be a fluff piece like Da U. They should call it "One Pete".

I would tell you I could give absolutely zero fricks about any of that, and that I enjoyed the hell out of the Pete Carroll era at USC as a fan of the Trojans.
It wasn't perfect, but it was a helluva lot of fun watching the talent pour into that program, and then out of it into the NFL. Some kids that grew up watching that team wanted to play for SC when they got older. Some of them are really talented, and are playing there now.

This. Unfortunately, directors of several 30 for 30 films have actually been big fans of whatever program or subject they're covering. And it was created with a very obvious bias to it (Da U and the KU basketball one come to mind)

Hey, I was at least entertained by the U.
We'll see how the 30 for 30s are without Simmons and with four first-time directors in this volume. The Gospel According to Mac might be decent and I'm looking forward to Chasing Tyson because it's, well, Tyson. Aside from that, they could probably find some better content.

There are many, many cooler stories they could run.

Seriously. I'm a history buff, and I love seeing details of classic college programs. It was interesting to hear about the importance of KU basketball and how many great coaches came out of that program.
But then it got ridiculous. The guy literally went to Phog Allen's grave and knelt. Then the rest of the movie was about him trying to get rich boosters to buy the damn rules, and I felt like the guy who actually did it only did it because a camera was in his face.
Also, first U was good, second U wasn't. And there were some outright lies in there. (Spurrier immediately denounced the comment made about him when it came out)

At this time last year, after watching USC humble a very good Michigan team in the Rose Bowl, and then enduring a dreary, four-hour tractor pull of a Sugar Bowl game in which LSU muddled past the Sooners, I wrote: "Southern California could beat these teams - back-to-back - and still make it to the beach in time to catch the sunset."
35 game win streak.
More than Florida State in the 90's (who only "won") one title - more than Miami in the 80's.
More than Alabama now.
Only Oklahoma in the 40's had more.
USC - 2002-2010 - 2nd best dynasty ever. 7 BCS games. 6-1 in BCS games.
Greatest BCS bowl record among all teams...still to this day.
21-3 against Top 10 opponents.

How about a 30-30 on Vince Young owning the Rose Bowl...

I'm looking forward to Chasing Tyson because it's, well, Tyson.
