Not trying to be a smart arse or anything, just genuinely curious. I don't have any strong feelings on suicide either way, just wondering and there seems to be some experts in here. So I figured I'd ask.

I'm not a medical expert but I have dealt with the suicide of a family member. Knowing the person he was and then seeing him deal with depression, I'm confident in saying he didn't do it because he wanted people to feel bad for him. And knowing how considerate he was, I am confident saying he didn't grasp the pain it would cause us. Just a whole different reality for people like that. I have other family members who view it as a selfish act and are still mad at him. I'm not sure they are wrong.

Your love of life is your reason for viewing it as selfish. A suicidal person obviously doesn't feel the same way.

But don't you know in today's world Christians (and only Christians) must be completely perfect in every part of their life before they can offer criticism on anything or anyone? Come on now get with the times.

I have the list. I see three different transactions for "John Gibson" on Gentilly Blvd in New Orleans.

Any other details you're willing to disclose?

Although I would be the first person to criticize this man for hypocrisy, I feel for this man and his family. People need to understand that even the worst is something you'll get past. A year from now no one will even care about the Ashley Madison debacle. Yeah, of course I would be embarrassed to be on the list but you take your lumps and move on.

Fair enough.

My dad knew him, said he was a very nice guy.

"Sad end to a good fellow."

T&P to his family.

Is there a reason we should feel bad about his inability to cope with his own hypocrisy?

This board only sympathizes with hypocrisy when it's your standard, run-of-the-mill christian hypocrisy.

To think; all of this could've been avoided with a pre-paid credit card and an anonymous username/ details.

Every member that used a pre-paid card is now patting themselves on the back for what might have seemed a case of paranoia.

if you say so. I'll defer to those of you who have dealt with it personally or professionally. Wouldn't want my inability to empathize to come off as callous.

Sounds like he didn't want to face the problems that only by his own actions had created for not only himself but for his entire family.

This guy is what is wrong with organized religion. Teach and preach that people live a certain way, and live the opposite. Then, and only when he was outed, he kills himself. His actions show he was only sorry for getting caught.
