Thank you for posting this. Comey is such a cuckold and this only strengthens my suspicions that the guy is all about the spotlight.

Agreed. They should let Obamacare collapse.

This is probably the best political strategy, however I think Trump feels like he needs to mitigate ACA enough to help launch tax reform. I'm not sure how they're tied in.

One thing is for damn sure. The full repeal and replace is a pipe dream as they're just not enough votes to do anything more than mitigate Obamacare.

How you gonna advise clients, when you can't advise yourself

Answered that question already. Lawyers need lawyers, therapists need therapists, financial experts need financial experts. It's often a blind side for many (including myself apparently) to ignore your own advice. Looking back, I probably invested way too much of my money into safari hunting. I should have just listened to myself and just taken more traditional vacations.

It really depends on your age. I advise my clients to go aggressive not only with the type of mutual funds they invest in, but also to spend heavier on the front end (younger age) with respect to consumer goods as once you're old enough to not enjoy the wild vacations (age 50-80) etc you can focus more and pay down the debt.

With that said, I do believe in Ramsey's babystep #1 rule: save a $1000 emergency fund before anything else!

If I'm in that much trouble, I might as well file for bankruptcy. I'm sure it will all work out or I'm out of here. I just needed an outlet to rant.

Are you a cfp?

Not technically, however I've had the fortune of managing a good amount of money for many years.

Think CFP without all the BS hoops one has to jump through to get that "title."

Anyway, like therapist, we sometimes need our own coaches.

Maybe you should look at becoming an uber driver.

I'm seriously considering it, however there's no way I could show my face in my neighborhood. My wife would ask questions if she found out.

The good news is I like the fact you can control what hours you work for Uber.

Sorry about your financial position. I would not suggest you get into flipping houses unless you know a reliable contractor that you can continually work with and have a basic understaning of both construction and real estate.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you

Thanks brother. I haven't told my wife the whole story. She thinks I bought her a brand new SUV recently, however I'm currently leasing it. Only been in this house for 5 years and she loves it since the kids can walk to Country Day during the school year. Feel like I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul, ya know?

Thanks regarding the real estate advice. I've also thought about selling timeshares or worst case scenario becoming a late night uber driver in the city (to at least keep the minimum payments met) when she thinks I'm out of town for business.

Cuz a high credit score totally means you're some financial genius

I'm not going to argue with a 12 year old on how a credit score works. I never said I was a "financial genius" -- just a financial coach.

I thought this would be a good thread to find a community to discuss this with, however I'm getting called all kinds of names and getting down-voted. I guess even in 2017 people are just jealous of success.

Yeah apparently Houston was hit very bad in the 80's. I'm just hoping this will be a short cycle. I'm also wondering whether maybe we should cap the amount frackers can frack in order to increase prices.

You choose a career in the oilfield and therefore you know the deal. You also sound like you have overextended yourself so ultimately you have no one to blame but yourself.

My career is not in the oilfield. My father-in-law owns oil wells and so my wife and I invested a significant portion of money for shares of his wells. I'm afraid to even speak to my father-in-law about it as he is known to be violent/quasi alcoholic during these tough times.

The silver lining could be that there's inflation with Yellen increasing interest rates and the oil is valued more. It's probably anyone's guess at this point.

I would argue financial planning/coach is a real job! Has anyone flipped houses before? I have good credit for a loan so any advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't consider myself uppity. I went to public schools and enjoy most things in life you probably enjoy.

These Oil Prices are BS!

Posted by nawlinsbrah on 6/19/17 at 7:36 pm
These falling oil prices are garbage. It's absolutely killing our economy in Louisiana and affecting our state budget. Even I'll admit our family is struggling to make ends meet and I'm considering getting a line of credit to bridge our mortgage until prices come back next year (as it helps subsidizes my financial planning business and wife's barre class business)

Seriously, it's time our government finally refuses to deal with OPEC's BS and get prices back to a respectable level!

If we can't either get the breakeven price lower or increase the price of oil, I'll be forced to leave Louisiana and bring my tax revenue with me.

I've always enjoyed old metairie but I'll sell our place and pick up and move to our vacation house in a heart beat.

With that said, anyone else have a house on Rosemary Beach? If so, how's the economy during the non-tourist season? I'm considering flipping houses.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Even if I was to concede that Cane's has better fingers, fries, and toast then Zaxby's (which, by the way, I don't), Zaxby's has fantastic, wings, shakes, salads (phenomenal), and appetizers. Oh, and I can BUFFALO my fingers in 9 different sauces.

No doubt Cane's is good, however Zaxby's is overall much better.

Wow, I guess we found out who the simpleton was after all.

You want me to disprove your baseless opinion that all Baptist and Non-denominational churches are full of simpletons?

Generally speaking, in Louisiana, that is accurate. Sure, you could point out some 1% exceptions but I've attended these churches all across the state for the past 20 years and yes they generally are. Whether viewing simpletons as a good or bad thing is certainly relative. We can learn from ALL human beings, regardless of their views.

However, in my opinion, I'd prefer to surround myself with more critical thinking minded folks at my place of worship.

The worst thing you can do is make a blanket statement that all Southern Baptists and Catholics are crazy or terrible people

I never wrote that. I have many baptist and catholic friends. Most all are good people. I'm referring to the issues inside the church, that regardless of what many want to believe, are MAJOR issues that should be dealt with before I could ever consider them hence why I'm looking elsewhere.
