I don't follow th beer threads much, but what is the general opinion of this brewery. I'm drinking a Pow Rye in the Kisser and it's not bad. Not a true IPA but similar.

Their IPA's are really good. The barrel series has been hit and miss.

I always see their regular lineup, but forget what style they are.

Borgne. Their new business model seems to be successful.

I am a fan. They have a really good thing going in their Triple Threat 12-packs (Pale Ale, ESB Ale and Blonde). I wish more breweries would do this, but seeing as so many stores have mix and match now I get if they don't.

The Crowd Control IPA was on tap at Bulldog Mid-City a few weeks ago and it's the best thing they've brewed IMHO.

The only thing I haven't been into is the Fireant red ale, but overall they produce some great stuff.

I have a pretty good opinion of them. Pretty consistently good flagship beers and solid one-offs for a good price.

SoPro 2015 IPA was money. They have pretty good beer across the board. It all matters what YOU like, not what others do. I tell my customers this on a daily basis

BB, you'd be interested in slowboat brewery out of laurel, ms that is working on its tap room. They will specialize in farmhouses and sours. I've not tried any of their stuff but I have high hopes

I guess I have to give them a try again. I remember disliking their beer. Maybe I have them confused with someone else.

i'm a big fan of their ipa's (IPA and crowd control), hipster stout, ragana porter.

devil's harvest and suzy b appeal more to the masses i guess but i'm not a big fan.

fire ant is ok when fresh but turns malty in a heartbeat.

You have piqued my interests. That will make for a nice stop on the drives between Nashville and BR.

This thread just reminded me I have some batch #1 Barley Legal tucked away that will probably tastes pretty good come the first cool night of Fall.

ABOUT US
Slowboat Brewing Company is a small, brewer owned and family operated artisan brewery located in The Free State of Jones, downtown Laurel, MS. We are slated for a late summer 2o15 opening.

Slowboat's main focus will be small batch artisan styles, including Farmhouse, Sour, Spontaneously fermented wild ales, Belgian style, Barrel-aged, experimental ales, and an ever evolving collection of popular American craft beer styles.

We operate our business on three basic principles:
Never sacrifice Quality for Quantity, Creativity for Comfort, or Passion for Profit

Slowboat is deeply committed to refining our craft, while holding true to thousands of years of brewing history and tradition. Our objective is not to produce large quantities of beer for the masses. We strive to produce beers of exceptional quality that we can be proud to call our own.

We can't promise that you'll love our beer. We understand that everyone has different tastes. What we can promise is that WE LOVE our beer. And we hope our passion for brewing shines through in every glass.

We look forward to sharing that passion with Laurel & the rest of Mississippi in the near future!

Much Love,

Kenny & Carrie

I agree with this. Crowd Control, the IPA, and Hipster are all very good.
