Started college in 1977. Had a 12" black-&-white TV with rabbit that got three channels. VCR's weren't affordable yet. We mostly listened to albums.
In the early 80's we got cable at our apartment and got MTV when all they played was music videos. Spent hours watching the four or five videos they had for the first few months. Never had a VCR until I had graduated college so we didn't watch many movies.
