Are high school eligibility rules the same as NCAA? If so, I still have 4 years of eligibility to play sports and I'm considering using them.

If it's the same, then the 5 year clock started your freshman year regardless of if you played or not.

Also, why would this news make you want to?

So you can taunt the kids who just took your arse down?

Quite possible for both of those to run congruently.

Such a true statement. Just lower it to 0.5 if it keeps them on campus and not doing stupid shite.

The LHSAA requires that all students competing in sports pass five classes and have a C-average. However, the organization does not spell out specifically what a C-average means.

So let's see how this will work...

P.E. = A
English = D
Math = D
Science = D
Social Studies = D

Passed 5 classes. GPA = 1.6.

Let's play some football.

Looks like EBR Schools are focused on babysitting.

Agreed. All of the good athletes are getting their grades fixed anyway so if the nickel corner wants to play, he better stay up late and get that C in art.

Btw, don't other school districts have the 1.5 GPA requirement as well? I also somewhat remember when it was previously increased to 2.0 in EBR, that some feared that fewer students would participate in athletics. In the case of Broadmoor High, I have often read articles of them struggling to have decent numbers for their football team because many of the students there were unable to qualify for participation.

I'm not sure why there are so many derogatory remarks being made. Do you guys realize that a 1.5 GPA is the requirement for schools like West Monroe, Barbe, Mandeville, Live Oak, etc? The LHSAA only requires that 5 classes are passed and a 1.5 GPA. EBR a few years ago voluntarily bumped their own GPA qualifications up to 2.0. It's not like EBR is now using a lower standard than the rest of the state.

Kicking the can down the road. So the kid manages to stay out of trouble throughout high school due to being preoccupied with sports? What happens when he is done with high school sports and can't get into any college due to his fricking 1.5 gpa. SMH

Why should the people of EBR give a shite what the standards are in WM or Mandeville. Crazy, but maybe they want a higher standard for their kids.

Unfortunately those higher standards have not translated into what you would ideally hope for. As I said earlier, the change in GPA has appeared to created problems in allowing students to participate in athletics.

What does that have to do with LHSAA eligibility requirements? Are you saying that this kid may only have a 1.5 GPA because he participated in athletics, and that without them he surely would have soared above a 2.0 GPA?
