Netflix is doing a great job of putting out solid shows, but I wouldn't classify any of them great. House of Cards, OITNB, Arrested Development, and now Narcos were all worth watching but in 10 years nobody will talk of them in the same sentence as Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, and Boardwalk Empire (only comparing to HBO shows).
I still appreciate what they are doing though, better than 99% of what is on the networks right now.
Agreed. It's good but not great some of the acting is over the top. The guy from game of thrones, the wife, Pablo's right hand man are all pretty bad IMO. You can tell where they skimped on the budget in places. Maybe I knew too much about Escobar but I didn't learn anything new. It's still entertaining just not ground breaking.

Were the writers trying to show us a little darker side of Murphy when he pulled the revolver on the taxi driver? I thought that was kind of strange...and now there's probably going to be a B story line with him and his wife in the next season which will not really interest me.
First off, just finished season 1. Great show!
But to your comment -
I'm a little worried about season 2. I like Murphy as a storyteller, but I really don't care about him. I'm worried like you are that he may have more of a focus in season 2.
Also, Escobar has a few months left until he's dead. Are they going to stretch that out for a full season?
They should have caught up to Escobar's death and then ended the Colombian story. Turn it into a True Detective type of show where each season features a different drug lord story from history.

He fled La Catedral in July 1992 and was killed in December 1993.

Pedro Pascal is not bad. If anyone is terrible in this show, it's the lead DEA Agent. His monologues are terrible at points too.

Finished season 1 last night. This was an absolutely great show, and one I am really looking forward to for the next season.
All the actors are great and the story is fast-paced and just interesting.

Am I the only who finds the narrator annoying? I hope it has stopped because that aspect made me quit watching half way through episode 1.
Ive only had a chance to watch the first episode(i do intend to watch the whole thing) and i agree, i found the narrator really annoying.

Just finished it in like a week
Does anyone else feel like they basically know Spanish after watching the show?
Really liked the narrator and Pablo pascal is a great actor
I would really like to see a season of Murphy in Miami, but I guess that would be too much Miami Vice for Netflixs liking. I just liked the scenery in the short time they spent in Miami

I never rooted to Pablo but there were times with some of his men (like with Guatavo) that I was like "damn that poor guy got screwed"
And then I was like oh yeah this dude totally murdered half a country
