I'm actually a big fan of the finale.

That was pretty damn badass when Riker DECLOAKED and blasted those birds of prey to hell.

I like the one where he goes back home after the Borg, and meets up with his older brother.

I actually just started watching TNG on Netflix. Just finished TOS and the first 6 movies. I'm 3 episodes in so it would be hard for me to pick a favorite, but I'm enjoying it as much as TOS.

Enjoy the ride. There are definitely more good episodes than bad, and that's saying a lot for a show that lasted 7 seasons.

The Best of Both Worlds

Two-Parter
Saw it in the theater a couple of years ago.

You'll probably get a little tired of Deus Ex Wesley for the first almost 2 seasons, but the show has some great runs. If you haven't seen DS9, I'd consider either picking it up near the end of your TNG run (or rolling into it when you're done with TNG) - the reason I'd suggest at least considering watching them in chrono is that some elements of the 2 series overlap and, in fact, TNG does a kickoff to DS9.

But, not absolutely required to do it that way.

I prefer the episodes when Riker had a beard. Those seem to be better for some reason.

Clean-shaven Riker overlaps much of Deus Ex Wesley.

"Riker's Beard" is a common antonym to "Jumping the Shark" or "Nuking the Fridge".

The first 2 seasons of TNG are by far the weakest, which is the opposite of Star Trek. The first episode after the pilot is a remake of a Star Trek episode.

The season 1 finale is good, it hints at the Borg. Season 3 on is pretty much outstanding some meh episodes like any show with 22-23 eps per season.

Yar and Data kind of irk me a little so far. Hopefully they grow on me.

I actually wasn't planning on watching DS9 or Voyager. But if you recommend it I'll reconsider. I was going to watch Enterprise after TNG and see if I felt like watching the other 2 after that.

I'm a broader fan of pre-2009 Star Trek, and don't really have a favorite (other than TOS and TWOK). They were really fine, quality products. Voyager is the outlier here, and I've never seen all of Enterprise, and, in fact have only seen a handful of episodes over the first 3 seasons.

But, DS9 is a wonderful product, in context, with some of the best characters in the entire universe. Particularly the villains (Gul Dukat, Female Changeling, Weyoun and Kai Winn), the antagonist races (Jem'Hadar) - as well as civilians Garack and Quark. The persistent environment (as opposed to "new planet, new prosthetic forehead race - solve the problem and move on" environment of the other shows) gives the show a realistic feel that some of the others lack.

Along with Babylon 5 - I recommend DS9 to any science fiction, even if they don't enjoy Star Trek, generally. It is probably the "purest" science fiction product of all the Trek television series.

I'll go ahead and incorporate it into my viewing. I have a ways to go though with TNG having 176 episodes!!

I should watch DS9. While I viewed all the other series to completion, I doubt I've seen more than an hour total of DS9. Not sure why.

Still my favorite as well. If any episode deserved an Emmy nod, it was that one. Touching . . . and heartbreaking.

I'd put Enterprise last on your list. I enjoyed Voyager a lot. DS9 was ok for me, not as much action, but great acting.
