Maybe because you didn't post this on the right board

Is it really easy to do it yourself?

This.
And never, ever, buy another Samsung product.

Capacitor. Get a new one at Radio Shack.

Take the back off th TV then look at the circuit board where the power cord goes to. The capacitors are the tiny barrel looking things. If one is swollen up that's what's bad. Go to radio shack spend 1.99 and replace it. Just match the numbers on the capacitors.

I love my Samsung plasmas, but I did just replace a main pwr PCA due to a hit.
OP will have to probably do that as well.

My guess is he will first have to go buy a soldering gun and wire...then a capacitor...then bring the TV in to a repair shop to fix the board he just facked up with his piss poor soldering.

Shopjimmy.com has parts too.

if you know how to solder, and have a soldering gun.
I didn't want to do it myself b/c everything is so close together on the board. Luckily I was still at LSU and brought it to one of the labs i was in and got someone there to solder it on for me.
My neighbor did his himself. Can't be that hard. Problem is you have to by the soldering gun and will likely never use it again.

Google your problem with Samsung tvs. They had a lawsuit on them for having a faulty part. Depending on what year and model you got they will repair it for free. Look it up and give them a call they repaired mine for free and it wasn't listed as a model that was available.

We're having a problem with ours too. TV was working fine, then the screen went black. TV will power on, but nothing shows up. It looks like the backlight is working, but the TV isn't powering up correctly. It's still under warranty and we're waiting on a reply from Samsung tech support.

Capacitor. Easy fix. You tube it and fix it yourself.
