This sloppily filled out paperwork cost a woman her life. There are procedures in place for dealing with suicidal people. Waller county didn't follow those procedures and now they'll have to pay.
Jails and police departments in general are really ill equipped for dealing with mental health issues. It's a pretty serious problem although it goes beyond departmental procedure.

1. Her blacktivist attitude when she was pulled over.
2. Hung herself.

A lot of people would act irate if they were improperly pulled over. I don't know all the details, but apparently the Department knows enough to say the officer was partially in the wrong.

I don't blame the sheriff or the jailers in this case. Liek someone else said, it's incomprehensible that she wasn't bailed out by her family.

This is surprising. Hopefully the jury won't be loaded with liberals.

If they didn't have $500 they will settle out of court for about $2Mil. They might be moving into your neighborhood

didn't she blow through a stop sign that caught the cops attention? then she didn't signal to change lanes...he had every right to stop her.
Then she had to be a total fricking bitch...had she just been polite she would have never been arrested. Hell not even polite just civilized.

Bland, who is black, was pulled over in her car on July 10 by a white state trooper, Brian Encinia, for failing to signal a lane change. The discovery of Bland's body in her cell on July 13 with a trash bag around her neck in an apparent hanging provoked suspicions of racist treatment.
So first it was they killed her then that came out and wasn't true and now they're saying her suicide was because of racist treatment. frick that family

Unfortunately, what do they have to lose? I wouldn't be surprised if Whitney Houston 's daughters family doesn't sue someone for her death.

"The footage shows that Encinia initially wrote a routine traffic violation warning for Bland. After he returns to her car and speaks briefly to her again, he asks her to put out her cigarette. She responds, "Why do I have to put out a cigarette when I'm in my own car?" Encinia orders her to "get out of the car",and, when she repeatedly refuses to exit with the defense of there being no apparent reason for her to do so, he tells her she is under arrest. Bland repeatedly asks why she is under arrest, and Encinia responds, "I am giving you a lawful order."She refuses to leave her car, stating she is not under arrest as she is unaware of the reason and not obliged to. Encinia then opens her car door and tells her more than a dozen times to get out of the car before he tries to pull her out. After struggling, he draws his Taser and points it at Bland, shouting "I will light you up! Get out! Now!", at which point she exits her vehicle"

I don't see anything about a stop sign. Sounds like the Officer was a compelte douche trying to arrest her for literally no reason, and she bears partial responsibility for escalating it. It's definitely not cut one way like y'all claim it is. Once again, the Department found that the officer acted improperly.
Regardless, I've said that's not why she's dead.

I wish America would adopt stronger laws against lawsuits. Like if you lose you have to pay the other sides attorney fees.

in the video someone on here stated she ran a stop sign...I think at the end of the first stop as he was getting in his car.

she was being such a count. the cop lost his cool with the bitch and took it to another level. I don't think the cop was right with how he reacted but I definitely think she was more out of line than the cop. It is pitiful that some people choose to treat others with such a lack of respect.

Since most lawmakers are lawyers, I doubt this will ever happen.

Only way to stem these lawsuits is to make family pay if they lose.

If you don't sue then you're pretty dumb, imo.
